'Young people' are also working full time/multiple jobs because the economic situation is significantly worse than back in your day, and many protests take place during standard work hours. I can't tell you how many protests I've missed bc they run 4-6 and I can't get there til 5:45. Be kinder.

They came back because CA agreed to redistrict to counter the seats lost in TX, and Texas has important legislation regarding its recent natural disasters that was also being held 'hostage' behind the gerrymander vote. They left to protect their constituents and they came back for the same reason.

The internet is not used to send local results. Votes are physically brought to the clerk's office and physical and digital numbers must match in several different places, confirmed by multiple people. I can't guarantee no tampering, but I can guarantee it couldn't have happened as laid out here.

I can confirm as an election worker from a swing state (not WI) that our machines are also not internet accessible. I can't speak for the process beyond the clerk's office, but there are multiple physical safety nets & cross-checks done by multiple people both at precinct and clerk office as well.

A key point that's going under the radar--the cities they are targeting for miilitary control are majority POC. Notice we haven't see actions against Seattle, Portland, Boston, etc, despite them also being democratic powerhouses? They are going after black and brown communities first, just as ICE.

If you have an ally in the fight against authoritarianism, encourage them! A non-ideal ally is still better than no ally. You don't have to agree with everything they say to accept their allyship and provide your own, nor police each other's words and actions. Our goal here is mutual commonality.
