It’s hard to disagree with. I have no appetite for changing managers again, but the lack of progress is startling. I honestly thought a full preseason and a fresh attack would improve things, but we’re on course to finish in a similar position as last season.

Originally I was dead against Martinez. I thought the smart move would be Lammens to challenge and then become No1. however, the GK position has become so bad, I’m not sure throwing Lammens in now is the answer, a lot of pressure on someone so inexperienced. Both is probably the ideal scenario.

Everyone is reporting it. Bringing through academy players is a huge part of our DNA. I’m shocked that it’s come to this and as you say, all optimism gone.
I’m over Garnacho, I really don’t care where he ends up, as long as we get a decent fee. If the club and manager can’t find a place in a misfiring team for someone with Mainoo’s obvious talents, that’s a massive red flag for me. Hopefully it’s nothing more than lazy journalism after yesterday.
People are just disappointed and worried about another false dawn. We are only 2 games in, so I’m not too concerned yet. The new players will take time to gel and form relationships. Hopefully next week will bring us a new MF and GK too. I’ll be worried if things haven’t changed by Oct/Nov.

Having easy to read tactics and being unable to figure out ways of exploiting others tactics is not a curse. It’s just bad tactics, management and planning.

Casemiro stated this half abysmally, but who is in midfield now? Mount and Bruno doesn’t fill you with confidence.
A decent start to the half, sadly it seems to have descend into chaos, with more than shades of last season. Midfield is not good enough and we look like we will concede from every set piece. We need a goal badly.
Bayindir keeps his place. I’m sure we can expect Fulham to target him at set pieces. 😬

Decent 1st half, encouraged by the forward play, we’ll definitely score more goals this season. Central midfield and the keeper situation is still a worry and needs to be addressed.

Our biggest advantage was our free run at him this summer. There will no doubt be more attractive suiters next summer. Hopefully the club have a plan b we can pursue before the window closes.

😂 it is difficult to know how far the money will go. Every club is different when it comes to payment structure. I have a feeling we will try and sign a striker from the premier league, to remove some of the risk. Not sure who, hopefully not Jackson.
I would imagine Sesko alone would blow our budget. Seen him and Hjulmand play about 5 times combined, and I only discovered the GK existed about 3 days ago, so I’ve no idea how good they are or if they would do well in the league.

It’s a shame we don’t make commission when our name is used to speed up a transfer. PSR would never be a problem again.
No one has mentioned a loan fee, which is surprising, but they are covering all of his salary, so that’s 15-18m saved.
Always seemed like it would be a loan, which is a shame. Be interesting to see how much of his wages they’ll cover. At least it’s getting done early.
That will never happen though. A deal will be struck. They will try and reduce the PSR hit as much as possible. Best case scenario, a sale with a small or no salary compensation. Worst case scenario, another loan where we subsidize part of his salary. Sadly, I think it will end up being the latter.
If he moves to another club on reduced wages, we could still end up paying him compensation on the remainder of his contract, unless he agreed waive it. If we terminate his contract we would pay a lot more in compensation, possibly everything we owe him, and we wouldn’t get a transfer fee.
We still owe Rashford more than 40m in wages. He has a contract, we would have to pay him off a fair chunk of that, if not all of it. A PSR nightmare.

I agree with you on Mbeumo, he would be ideal, but at what cost. It’s clear we’re not going to get him anytime soon and we appear reluctant to engage with anyone else yet. It will start to impact our preparations for next season soon. Amorim must be very frustrated.
We need to move on. I think a ST, MF or GK is probably more important than another 10 anyway, we have many options at 10.
