UK press is among the worst in the world & has made us a more bigoted & hateful country for decades. Living here you can get desensitised to it, but our media is a disgrace & a laughing stock internationally. V seriously, what do we do? Is it possible to unfuck institutions like this after so long?

Yeah agree, it would've been counterproductive to use the word dictator, it has negative connotation for most people. But then what happens is the researchers and scicomms conclude that ppl sort of understood Q2 was about dictatorship-ish, and therefore are confused about the contradictory responses
My hypothesis was based on the people I know, & general human stupidity (or, more generously, the fact that most people are busy thinking about other stuff in their lives and never develop deep media literacy, critical thinking when it comes to authority figures, or political consciousness raising)
Also, I should clarify I’m speaking as a European living in Europe. I think the survey referenced here has respondents from a range of countries if I remember correctly. Most likely there are cultural differences I'm not familiar with when it comes to the US
Yeah agree, but the question doesn’t say the word dictator. My point is precisely that I think a lot of people aren’t able to read “dictator” into that question, they think “oh a strong leader who isn’t bogged down by red tape? Hell yeah”
Source: I know a lot of folks ranging from dumb to disengaged, and I used to be probably both myself as well. Coming to survey questions like this from a place where u are not steeped in political or even just societal understanding will not yield the most insightful results
Yeah I think a huge amount of “normal people” wouldn’t think those two questions as contradictory, at least not without prompting or further context provided. Genuinely I think people read the words “Democracy” and think 👍 , and they read the words “Strong leader” and also think 👍, and that’s it

Or like in belles hair there’s textured sections next to very digital looking ones. To me it ends up looking like a mistake was made more than a choice, but it could just be that the art style isn’t for me
Ah ok makes sense, so those would be entirely digital most likely, but they’ve used brushes that mimic traditional? I guess I just don’t understand the choice to do that on part of the artwork, but not on others. Like the instagram filter smooth face looks jarring to me next to faux brushstrokes

I don’t know anything about digital art, can someone explain the mixed medium look? Is this common method in this style of art? I don’t mean the ai retouching, I mean like how some of the backgrounds and e.g belles dress and body look like paint on board and the faces look like digital airbrush
Also interesting that the baseline pre NOTA adjustments aren’t 100% accuracy, or even close? My interpretation of that study is that the accuracy to the question set was around 80% initially which also doesn’t seem like it’d be good enough to push usage in medical diagnoses

Actually the ONS survey used here is considered some of the most reliable data we have, as it's based on national surveys asking people if they've been the victim of a crime and the details etc. They don't just rely on police data partially for the reason you said. The ONS are quite good at this.

The algorithm is def the problem. It's sorting that kind of content into the same category as thirst-traps for women. You need to stop liking so much monestary content and start liking more videos of firefighters and hairy lumberjacks and you'll eventually get to the lefty dating advice for men
I'd have to disagree. I see SO MUCH content by progressive men talking about how to be a man and what women like. I don't seek it out either its just in my algo. Thing is - their audience is nearly 100% women... This kind of advice from the left exists, it's just that men don't watch it, women do.

No way! I grew up in Sweden and they air it on TV there on new years day every year, have done since the mid 80s and no one knows why, it's just become national tradition for some reason. Sam Neill has even talked about being baffled by it and how no one remembers this movie outside Sweden

Yes but that's exactly the point, the chants are not criminal. When determining if something is censorship or not you do need to take into account the content being suppressed. Censorship isn't one of those topics where u can go "whatever ur view about the chants", that detail makes or breaks it..

Honestly think a lot of the Swedish government and a fair chunk of the population aren't actually that opposed to trumps politics. But they have a snobbish disdain for his aesthetic, he's brash and comes off as dumb in an American way that 🇸🇪 despise, and that's a bigger reason he's unpopular
