Everything feels normal when manic. At least in my experience. And I felt my robotness sort of simultaneously with my humanity? I've also fully believed things that were more ominous. This was just like an extra layer on reality, not a replacement

I have and I do, I've also woken up not depressed while I went to bed very depressed and that is not necessarily a good thing (in my case it meant I was manic). But if I could send you a very mild dose of hypomania that might be a good relief for you (but mind your hands, overtaxing is easy

I have these moments where things remind me of my mother. Mostly it is more melancholical than full on sad/grief. I think it is good that I keep her in mind, but sometimes it is a bit unexpected what triggers it

Will you be learning ? I learned cycling when i was little and I remember my granddad running with me to steady me and then letting me go. I've never been good at learning balance things (skating, roller skating) and I took a while learning cycling, but as soon as I managed it was easy. Good luck!

I've tried reducing it but I did get depressed quite distinctly and it got better when I started taking my usual dose. I am taking it now for 20 years
I was in an extreme rapid cycling situation. I first got depakine (=valproic acid) which helped a lot, reducing the high points but not much of the depression. Then I got lithium as add on and this reduced the rapidness, gave overall feeling of stability and it reduced depression
Why why why didn't they notice it earlier? I mean, you've been into contact with Psych folk. I remember getting diagnosed with bipolar and I was over the moon because it was the best available DX (I was manic at the type) I hope you get good help with meds and general support

I can vote for good experience with lithium. When starting it was a bit of a hassle with repeated blood tests, but I was in hospital so everything was both hassle and organised? Now I have half a year blood test.
