Even today at the State level re gerrymandering, in CO, when Dems held a supermajority, we decided to let independent commissions draw our maps. And they draw our Blue State as if itâs perpetually purple. Do Dems get credit for giving that power over to the commissions? Rarely gets mentioned.
Joe Manchin threw water on Bidenâs entire agenda. Looking back, Biden proposed big things and got a lot throughâbut Manchin stopped him from helping more, all in the name of compromising with the GOP. Did centrists credit the Dems or Biden for making such concessions? Nope.
In my lifetime, Iâve watched Dems repeatedly reach across the aisle, take the high road, and show an over-eagerness to compromise. Obama ditched a public option to get the ACA through the Senate. It still got zero GOP votes, and they sued him for years. Did centrists give Obama credit? Nope.
Republicans have zero ground to stand on when it comes to supporting fairness and democracy. Apart from their attempt to steal the 2020 election, have you seen the Senate? Ever heard of the electoral college?

A public option would supercharge the US economy. Employers wouldnât have to offer coverage (some would, others would offer boutique plans). American workers would become affordable again. Theyâd get paid more, driving consumer demand.
