Being biracial makes us distinct. It makes us different. Other people, the society, The world in general May see me and others As "special" - whatever that means-or having "privilege" But we're just ordinary people Dealing with the embedded binary bs of racial politics in the US.

So the term biracial Applies to any First Generation Mixed Race person And being mixed race Is not an indicator of division But a reversion to the past Prior to Plessy and ODR Where BW biracial individuals Had their own groups To some extent, their own communities. It's a return to unity.
Actually, BW biracial And multiracial people Were classified as "Mulatto" Until 1920 on the US Census. Mixed race people Depending on fractional ancestry Were also seen as distinct From both black and white people. The Plessy SCOTUS decision Plus the One Drop Rule Reclassified biracial people.
Actually, that's not accurate. Biracial people may be a part Of whatever tribe or ethnic group They have heritage in in African nations. The reality is there is no concept Of One Drop Rule in African nations and mixed race people are often referred to as "White" at times
