So many people say, “Let the MAHA drink raw milk,” without thinking that they will give raw milk to children who have no volition or ability to give consent to something potentially fatal. The same people who want to let “red” states suffer. Unbridled cruelty and lack of compassion.
This is a really important point. I think we need some different models of understanding gender-based oppression, and i think anti-effeminacy makes sense to be a part of it. I think that's one aspect of misogyny that some cis men notice and get derailed into MRA-land when trying to talk about it.
It can start very early in life, too. Studies show even toddler-age boys who are perceived to be as feminine as a girl are treated much worse by peers, parents, adults, other kids. There’ve been cases of small feminine boys being horrifically abused and murdered by their families.
It’s very important to me that any comprehensive theory of gender oppression make serious room for anti-effeminacy and treat it with respect as a real and many times deadly form of subjugation and violence.
We could argue “no, May, that’s transmisogyny,” but this is a distinction without difference in this case. For the first 20+ years of my life I primarily experienced transmisogyny as intense anti-effeminacy.
I also feel people get really tripped up on gender metaphysics here—that there must be a firm ontological line between misogyny, which happens to women, and “homophobia” (usually the closest word for anti-effeminacy), which happens to men
IMO almost every popular view of gender massively downplays the intensity and virulence of anti-effeminacy as a form of gender violence and prejudice.

My grandad had a dairy farm; while most of the milk would go on to be pasteurized at the processing plant, my Nan would boil the shitter out of the milk she and the kids would drink.
I grew up in an area with a lot of Amish/ Mennonite people and a lot of small family farms, and one of our neighbor ladies had to boil milk almost as fast as their cow would make it. Almost every time I saw her at her house, she was stirring milk.
