It pisses me off when these local farmers bitch about wind and solar "ruining the landscape" a day after they sprayed 800 gallons of pesticides to kill every living thing in sight.

This week is all "intro to the course" stuff but next week I'm excited to teach Catherine Kudlick's "Disability History: Why We Need Another βOtherβ" (still relevant after all these years) and Veronica Strong-Boag's "Raising Clio 's Consciousness: Women 's History and Archives in Canada".

There is a plum tree along the back fence that has been neglected by the neighbor, and until now mostly obscured by the giant tangle of blackberry bramble. I spent August harvesting blackberries, now I will liberate this little plum tree and eat an uncomfortable amount of plums.

This evening I discovered I am pretty good at making whiskey sours. Eight in total, my friend's house has an old-school bar. It was fun to bartend for an evening!

I went into an "emporium" today and nearly laughed at the higher-than-thrift-store prices for old and second-hand items. Then I heard the haggling. Omg I have to come back to this place, I *love* to haggle with Old Guys.

I have two masters degrees and after a year of not being able to get a job, I am now doing an admin role at a university. It pays half of what I was making in my last position.

I met a lot of students and tried to sell them on my very cool history courses! I'm teaching a women in Canada pre 1920 class and it's going to have both demonic possession AND quilts as history of botany and everyone should take it.

It's very capitalistic- let the developer & market decide what car parking is needed. "For years, minimum parking rules shaped every development decision in the Canadian city - often before anyone even looked at whether the site needed parking at all. " www.strongtowns.org/journal/2025...
