Well storing the textures on disc to even get to ram is problematic when you are comparing physical size of disc. So that also comes into play. Even with compression.

That’s right, you are comparing bitmaps to PixelFX’s file format(which is similar to MiSTerv2). I wasn’t saying they were the same file type. But on screen they do the same thing and ultimately look the same.
Why don’t you think they look the same? Or work the same? scanlines definitely make the masks look different, but the masks and mask options are nearly identical. From intensity to color. I think the morph is missing alpha channels but outside of that, I don’t see a difference.

The crt masks on both scalers work exactly the same way and look identical so if any one says the masks are better on the tink are lying straight up. Scanlines are definitely more robust on the tink(currently), but masks are not.
Not really. The auto phase stuff isn’t really an issue when you have profiles there for you anyway.
Nothing really. The only real loss is some of the deinterlacer options, but not a huge deal either. Unless you are a super ps2 player.
yes, it’s temporary. But it varies in how long it lasts. Some items I’ve done still look great and others shifted about a year later again. I’ve seen mostly good results though with long term results.
