I think this comparison is largely right. Yes, it’s a replay of McCarthyism’s ugliest aspects but that was fueled by a widespread sense that the country faced dire external dangers while this is about a deeply unpopular president’s grudges.
There is absolutely nothing to be gained "debating" someone with whom you don't share a common set of facts. RWers live in an insulated bubble of conspiratorial nonsense. Do want to waste time arguing about post-birth abortions or cities burned to the ground by BLM protesters or Fauci's crimes?
