Here's some real talk: Dem strategists urging Dems to avoid the "trap" of talking about Trump occupying cities are saying this precisely in order to get quoted in NYT and elsewhere, and everyone involved in this charade knows it. @jamisonfoser.bsky.social and me: newrepublic.com/article/1998...

That would suggest the larger problem here is that the parents' generation lacks a healthy sense of ironic detachment.

All of which makes me suspect you might be on the autism spectrum. My son has autism; some of your behavior is familiar. The off-topic interjecting, feelings about justice, arguments over factual misunderstandings, etc But whether you do or do not, you treat people like garbage. Blocking in 24 hrs.
John A Warning (@yukonjohn.bsky.social) reply parent
So I read through some of your replies to other accounts and this is all you do on here. You reply to other people (out of the blue) and tell them they're conservative, or insult them for being liberal, tell them to read more (never what), and disagree with them about everything–no matter what.
John A Warning (@yukonjohn.bsky.social) reply parent

Or shift attention away from unpopular incumbents! Look, we want new ideas. But they need to be at least average quality ideas.
John A Warning (@yukonjohn.bsky.social)
Now the DNC should keep pretending they're doing a convention until Trump is fully committed. Pretending, because holding a convention that shifts attention to the out-party, away from the incumbent, right before the midterms is self-evidently dumb. Fire Ken Martin.

So true. Think about historical context. The English Revolution of 1688, a conflict about parliamentary primacy, was closer in time to the year our Constitution was drafted than 2025 is to the end of World War I.

Well, I mean, what did the Democrats accomplish between 2021-2023 that Trump hasn't torn down? Or, can't tear down if he feels like it? Plus, to your point, these same leaders are following the same strategy as last time: what makes you think the party won't repeat the same mistakes next time?
John A Warning (@yukonjohn.bsky.social) reply parent
On the other hand, Trump can't see what's obvious to the rest of us. So it would be great if a committee member were to bluntly say that deploying troops domestically is disqualifying and personal grace is a key character attribute (while defining the term).

Given that we're still over a year away from the midterms the big one is that he, and other anti-slavery candidates, should do so if they desire. Beyond that, when it comes to Newsom I think he should stop the anti-trans stuff, and soon, if he wants to be President.

Look to the Congressional wing for the party's malaise. Most notably the long-serving members who pre- and post-date Obama.
John A Warning (@yukonjohn.bsky.social) reply parent
For context, Obama–whose style was most definitely mass persuasion–led the party as President for exactly 8 years: 2009 to 2017. Before that, he was, very briefly, the junior senator from Illinois from 2005 to 2008. After that, he was/is a retired politician.

That's half the story at best. The original 'unpaid internet volunteer' (with a 9-5 'real' job) was not pushed out by 'soulless corporate hack'. The original 'unpaid volunteer' became the content-creator, the site-owner, the full-time 'internet-job' person.

In one word: licensing. It's "easy" for one company to get an exclusive license for the NFL because there is one league for the whole world. FM in contrast has to obtain many more licenses, but the sheer number of leagues, countries, and players involved makes a Madden-like monopoly impossible.

John A Warning (@yukonjohn.bsky.social) reply parent
Based on what I read earlier this week, Steam removed games that the press will only refer to with euphemism. That's muddied the waters a lot. From what I can interpret the non-euphemistic description of categories Valve removed is: adult-only "pro-incest" sex games.
