but i'd say try and talk with them first and explain why it's a problem, they may be understanding and willing to change course. but unless they are and do, and ideally issue a public apology showing an understanding of the harm & that it will not happen again they are not to be trusted & are scabs.
at a haunted house i've been acting at for years they decided to use AI to make an ad. so i spoke with the owner about it, he was actually fairly understanding but it was his son who did it. i spoke with his son, he got real defensive of it. i will not be returning.
AI datacenters remind me of Hitler's obsession with trying to make giant rail cannons. just make this thing with at best questionable real world application that's already kinda clunky and only good at destroying things bigger, as big as you possibly can and hope that somehow makes it better.
killer robots are a thing and have been since the Obama years, but the real apocalyptic machine overlords are much more indirect than that. unlike gen AI there are actual peaceful and beneficial uses for drones though, like search and rescue, geological surveys, and uses in agriculture.
Meta is currently building an AI compute center in Louisiana that, when finished next year, will be almost as large as the city of Manhattan, and is projected to draw 2-5 GW of power by 2030. For perspective, Manhattan's annual power usage is ~2.5 GW. Gen-AI is hastening climate catastrophe.

One thing this article doesn't mention (for some reason) is that the studio was originally founded in Shanghai by an ex-Ubisoft China manager in 2004. It now has 3 studios in China that form much of its core dev backbone + has expanded to Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, North America, Europe etc.
that rather than being held accountable many of these people have ended up being looked to as leaders both enabling them, & encouraging others who would abuse people in their scenes in the same ways. while those who say this isn't alright tend to be less safe for it has had me on edge for years.
