i think one issue is that this approach has proven to be a total failure. a partisan who sees the right as morally deficient will have had a better track record at predicting the events of the last few years than someone who is endlessly trying to demonstrate their nuance.

One of the most noticeable differences in Amsterdam (and Europe in general) from the US is how much more relaxed and slower the pace of life is here. It's not unusual for folks to just chill and hang out at a café for hours. In the US is always a rush to eat and turnover the table.

In my opinion the real lesson of Russiagate was that Trump wanted the US to become more like Putin’s Russia: a corrupt dictatorship in which a billionaire used the government to enrich his friends and criminalize his critics. In his second term, he’s making real progress.
