“It’s not one guy, it’s a system issue” is a pretty woke response from Kevin
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
This game was weird in that he had bad luck with drops but good luck with a bunch of potential interceptions (though at least a couple of those were from the drops) Overall pretty promising for Dak going forward
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social)
Crazy that every drive of the first half scored and then the 2nd half was 3-0

NOT the first player (or even first Eagles player) to get ejected before playing a snap in the opener the year after playing in the Super Bowl, though. Jeremiah Trotter in 2005

They need to make better use of DeJean
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s not as if DeJean has played outside and not been good, though. I think he’d be good wherever they played him in the defensive backfield. They needed him at nickel last year, but the glaring hole is outside now
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
Begging Fangio to just put Dejean outside and roll with McWilliams or Bennett or whoever at nickel

It’s wild that AJ Brown and Devonta Smith have done next to nothing and Philly has 3 TDs in 3 drives

The sharpie thing was one of the coolest and most creative celebrations of all time, and the NFL immediately went out of its way to make sure nothing like that could ever happen again (I hate TO because tore the Eagles apart, but the sharpie rocked)

Also, the “threat” is normally not something that is a violation of international law
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
Sort of, but not really. The justice system normally is coercive in the sense that it uses the threat of severe charges to get plea agreements to lesser charges, but defendants do have the option to say “screw you” and go to trial when they have no case. KAG isn’t even getting that chance

How does that work, hypothetically? Like is the compliment some kind of magical incantation? In practice, it seems like the opposite is true. Guy in charge is terrible and unpopular, and Dems should be doing anything in their power to highlight that he is terrible and they oppose him

D&D is interesting because magic CAN be a thing you’re born with (sorceror), but it can also be a thing you studied your ass off to learn (wizard), or something granted as by a god/demon/nature/whatever, and magic users aren’t considered inherently better than people who go punch stuff really hard

Legend of Korra also gets at some of this, particularly in the first season. The Equalists are fascinating antagonists in part because they’ve correctly identified the problem, albeit with a questionable solution. Sort of Magneto vibes with the “special” and “not special” roles flipped
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
I don’t think the political structure is inherent in the concept of magic. There are certainly fantasy settings where magic is separate from social status and even settings where those with magical abilities are specifically persecuted (the Seanchan in Wheel of Time, Fjerda in Shadow and Bone, etc)

There are some fun series with the premise that basically everyone in society has some of it EXCEPT the main character, who compensates in other ways (Black Clover, Mashle)

My son just had his bris. I had mine at 8 days old. 58% of US male babies are circumcised. I’m glad my parents made that decision for me because circumcision as an infant causes vastly fewer problems than doing it as an adult, and an adult cannot retroactively decide to be circumcised at 8 days
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
Puberty is not reversible. It is very literally an irreversible change to their bodies that you want to force. That you want to FORCE trans girls to have male puberty and then ban them from sports for it is grotesque. You would deny them a choice EVER because the choice cannot be made as an adult
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
It is entirely within our power to prevent trans girls from going through male puberty at all (and thus having even a theoretical advantage at some aspects of some sports), but you seemingly want to force irreversible changes on their bodies instead, against their wishes and their parents’ wishes
Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
I sense that this is going to quickly lead to me blocking you, but on the off chance you’re asking this in good faith, the reason is that puberty blockers are not useful in adults. That boat has sailed *Puberty* irreversibly alters your body, in ways that trans teens may not want

Alan Plotzker, MD (@alanplotzker.bsky.social) reply parent
Also, “trans women have an unfair advantage because they went through male puberty” rings extra hollow when the same people yammering about this are trying to FORCE trans girls to go through male puberty against their wishes by restricting puberty blockers

Of course it should be reflexively undoing it. If you think there’s other stuff to improve, do that, but the bare minimum here is being the party that believes in having a functional government that helps people Simply “undoing it” is already a huge task
