Yeah, was very disappointing. I could forgive how disorganized and unprepared he was during the show, but the trans material was unnecessary and mean.
I probably would have gone with a more geometric typeface with a simpler, more consistent G. But whatever. It's nice to see that our Night Mayor is keeping busy from his Night Lair in…Gatineau.
I think it's the typeface. The G has some funkiness going on with different stroke widths for the crossbar, spur, and bowl, coupled with the gradient, coupled with the black background etc. It might be stretched or compressed slightly as well? Ottawa is a great word for kerning practice.

I think of all the stuff that's within easy biking distance (3-4km) but requires cycling through absolute deathtraps…nope. Just not worth it. I say this as somebody who didn't even own a car for 5 years. But give me safe cycling routes and I'll happily be one less car on the road again.
Your choice is the shortest route (lots of red) via Innes vs the safer route (lots of green). The safer one is twice as long. This is why people bike on sidewalks in places sometimes. Your weekly commute would be five hours more. #ottbike

Elevator maintenance has been a mess for a while. Shortage of licensed mechanics and general supply chain issues means elevators can be offline for months. I wonder if there have been any changes to preventative maintenance like how much salt is poured into them (and escalators).

The next couple of years are going to be rough with every political campaign hosting a scavenger hunt.
We are approaching peak hot dog. I kinda worry about it because it means the current hot dog rich environment will recede as they are replaced by a new trendy food item. We’re at 2011 cupcakes levels of glizzy hype, only downhill from here. At least Costco has our back.
This scavenger hunt is so charming and smart and actively engaging. It gets New Yorkers out and about, exploring the city, talking to one another, taking advantage of public transportation and working toward a common cause. The levels! It’s just so great.

I had heard late 2025 floating around as a possibility back in the Spring. There haven't really been a lot of updates and I also remember hearing that the city is in no rush to open since that entails them forking over money to operate it.

Trip chaining by transit is virtually impossible.
Not too long ago I had a day with meetings in Barrhaven, Kanata North, and Orleans and JFC what a saga. I don’t think it would have been physically possible to do the day by transit…it barely worked in a vehicle. And those destinations aren’t even close to the farthest reaches of the city.
My prediction (based on Sutcliffe’s cops and cuts budget) is Phase 2 opening coincides with another round of OC Transpo service cuts. And then he’ll campaign in ‘26 on uploading transit to province.
If I were to extend the trip to Orleans to visit my mom it would be comical: my transfer might expire before I get to my last leg. I live inside the Greenbelt.
The shame is Line 2 is pretty good. However, getting to Line 2 is a 30 minute adventure for me (almost the same time it would take to walk) and with the headways a trip downtown is easily over an hour.
It has a pedestrian crossing (with the flashing lights) but some people come flying through there.
