Yeah, it's like when engineers create gloves that can "recognize sign language" and then translate them with text-to-speech. These guys don't consult with actual sign language speakers and miss the fact that there's more to ASL than hand gestures.

The map and buildings have a size that you can fill with workbenches, crop fields, etc. Instead of visuals, you get reports of stats. This might be more fun to design than play.

I play a lot of Rimworld and I really like all the systems and mechanics it has. I was thinking of how to design a simplified, text version of it. Not like Dwarf Fortress, but removing the 2D geometry altogether in favor of a "bag" approach...

I asked the LLM to write Python code, and instead of random.randint(0, 1) for each cell in a grid, it used: 1 if (hash((x, y, id(board))) ^ (x * 1315423911 + y * 2654435761)) & 1 else 0 Which... yeah I guess if you really don't want to import random and set a seed, that works...

The narrative around AI and coding is so bonkers and contradictory. It's going to replace programmers. It's a tool for senior devs and no one will hire junior devs anymore. It lets junior devs work with the productivity of senior devs. Productivity gains of 95% or 15% or loses of 15%.
