Yesterday's Star Trek con was a delightful time, where I got to see rad friends (not all of you are pictured because we forgot selfies after all the hugging and catching up!), visit with epic Trek actors, and feel the nerd love. 💜🖖🏻💜 I hope everyone had a blast today, hugs to all!

I have seen this behavior in our fandom communities for a decade+ now, my female/NB friends and I discuss it SO OFTEN. These guys are so desperate to prove "not all men" that it comes back around into gaslighting, misogyny, and just being exceptionally annoying and in-your-face. Woke Olympics.

As a video with 25k+ likes, it obvi resonated on a huge scale, & now there is a much larger problem to examine. I'm glad they framed it in terms of friendship, b/c other relationships are usually put first. This manipulation tactic is so ingrained from childhood on, these guys think its normal & ok.
The algorithm just served me a video about misogyny and manipulation, asking if a man's "kindness, sweetness, and care" had ever turned out to not serve your joint friendship but instead was meant to make you more sympathetic, accomodating, and giving of yourself to him and his needs. Um. Yes. 🙋🏻♀️
Watched the latest Strange New Worlds, despite my ongoing displeasure with this season's direction. I actually appreciated most of the episode, despite its unoriginal theme. But that ending was not great. Especially the "we might have to reset" bit as a continuity fix, which is lazy and insulting.

Sorry I’m posting so much about this Strange New Worlds. Generally if I just dislike an episode I’ll stay quiet. But I find this episode so abhorrent, even if the best of times, but especially given the times we’re in - I feel a need a prominent Trekkie to be vocal about it and not let it slide.
Absoutely not. It was racist and harmful to biracial people. The writing was appalling bad. They even made Una terrible and she had no excuse.

...in the 60s, how it only ran for three seasons but sparked our sense of justice, our need to see an equal future for women & POC, & made outsiders feel safe & welcome when they felt like aliens in our society. SNW isn't creating that same environment this season. I love it, but that's the truth.
