I think we should have work requirements for the presidency. Limits on golf trips, a mandatory amount of hours worked per week, and clearly defined metrics for their success. If they fail to meet these requirements, they lose their job and the benefits that come with it.

Thatās the thing, the President isnāt supposed to be able to unilaterally do almost anything. There are distinct limits to what can be done by executive order, and Trump has crossed that line almost every day that heās been in office. The fucker should have been behind bars months (years) ago.

Explain why people would vote for abortion rights and Trump on the same ballot.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
What generation would that be, exactly? Or are you just making assumptions?
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
Abortion rights were voted into law in deeply red states. Every single state that had abortion rights on the ballot in November passed the initiative. If M4A was somehow included as a national ballot initiative I pretty much guarantee it would pass. Which is why Congress should codify it.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
Ah, yes, look at all the things Dems do at the state level that they have yet to even TRY to do nationally. We have yet to codify same-sex marriage. We have yet to codify abortion rights. We have yet to codify gay rights overall. Youāre not helping your case.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
They may have had more access to medical assistance, but the ACA did nothing to reduce medical cost. It forced people into a capitalistic nightmare of a health insurance system and didnāt create universal care. It didnāt prevent medical bankruptcy. It didnāt prevent medical costs from skyrocketing.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
I have repeatedly stated that I voted for Kamala. Iām tired of yāall ignoring that fact just because Iām not moronic enough to blindly support them wholeheartedly despite the fact that they do absolutely nothing to change the material reality of our lives.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
Voters are enthusiastic about Medicare for All, as evidenced by this poll right here that says 6 in 10 Americans support it:
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
You were responding to my post about the VRA, another policy I hadnāt mentioned until you did.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
And yet, I keep voting for them, which also ruins your entire argument against what Iām saying. I understand that theyāre the best we have, and yet they accomplish next to nothing to improve the lives of the average American.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
Thatās not by my own personal definition. By global standards, anything aside from universal single-payer health insurance is RIGHT of center. And did you not read the fact that the ACA was originally a Republican policy proposal? lmao, dude, youāre not gonna win this debate. The Dems donāt do shit.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
I wasnāt talking about the ACA. The ACA is not a progressive policy by any measure. The ACA is centrist at best, and was originally proposed by the Republican Party.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
People have been going into medical bankruptcy the entire time the ACA has existed, and having the ārightā to go into medical debt despite having insurance is hardly āsaving livesā.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
If your only example of the Dems actually achieving a progressive policy is from nearly 6 DECADES ago, then you donāt even have an argument.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
And, again, if Kamala actually did win and Trump cheated his way into the WH, then yes. The country DID vote for abortion rights nationally. And every single state that had abortion rights on the ballot in November DID vote for it.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
When was the last time universal healthcare was a ballot initiative in a red state? Iām not cherry picking, Iām giving you an example of how people vote when given the opportunity to directly vote on progressive policies.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
I didnāt mention the VRA, which was passed nearly 60 years ago and is not being protected by the currently sitting Dems.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
Obamacare literally just forced everyone to buy into the private health insurance market and required insurers to cover preexisting conditions. If anything the ACA expanded upon the failures of our private health insurance system, and did basically nothing to curtail those failures.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
And look at all of the votes on individual ballot initiatives during the 2024 election. Abortion rights were written into the state constitutions in states where Trump won. When voters get to vote on things they want, they do soāeven in red states. Yet another reason I doubt Trump actually won.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
She literally got my vote despite not offering me anything that I wanted. Because I knew that despite her shitty policy agenda, the shittiness pales in comparison to Trumpās level of fascism. She, being supportive of Palestinian genocide and not of universal healthcare, IS a fascist as well.

And what are they doing to preserve peopleās rights outside of voting rights? What are they doing to stop the U.S. funded genocide? What are they doing to protect due process? As far as I can tell, all this lawsuit is doing is preserving their ability to get reelected. Self-serving nonsense.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent

And yet, we had lower turnout overall than in 2020 and she didnāt run on M4A. The democratic base didnāt show up because she was giving us nothing that we wanted. But, again, I have very little doubt that Kamala actually did win. There is zero chance Trump actually won every swing stateānone.

A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
I would also suggest looking into the amount of supporters who voted for Bernie and AOC and TRUMP. They exist. People liked Trump because he presented himself as a challenge to the status quo, like AOC and Bernie. They donāt necessarily agree with his hateful rhetoric, but they want changeā¦
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
More and more people are disillusioned by the Democratic Party because even when they run on universal healthcare and living wages, etc., they never get it done. That leads people to opt out of voting altogether. Jeffries and Booker are the Dems making people lose faith in the party.
A New Perspective (@anewperspective.bsky.social) reply parent
When given the option of a candidate that actually runs on the things I listed, people do tend to vote for them. If Kamala actually did lose, itās because she pushed her policy agenda farther to the right. Bernie and AOC continuously win elections and garner massive crowds at rallies, for instance.
