Especially disturbing for me was the accusation she made that the surrogate mother kidnapped and killed the fetus. She can’t kidnap a fetus growing inside her body; that’s not how this works.

I think for me it was the allegation that the first surrogate ”kidnapped and killed [her] son”. You can’t kidnap a fetus that is in your uterus. What did Ms. Bi want her to do: rip the fetus out and hand him over?

For ages one of my cats loved illegal plastic bags. It took so long to convince her that plastic bags are not part of a balanced feline diet.

I also have a great deal of skepticism that we can know who any particular skeleton belongs to from someone who lived 2000 years ago. Science is amazing so maybe some people, but being able to pinpoint an exact name seems generally implausible.
I have a sweater whose care instructions tell me to wash it and then lay it out on the floor or a counter in the shape I want it to be in when it dries. All well and good but my cats always wanted a different shape than I did.
The last time I checked earlier this year it was $1800 for the full course of shots if you were paying out of pocket.
This is one of the things I love about fantasy right now. There are a ton of books being published with queer casts (or partially queer casts) where they’re just having adventures like any other cast of characters.

I just finished Hemlock and Silver by @tkingfisher.com & my best non spoiler comment is that she semi-promised to write a fantasy romance based on medieval sewer design & as someone who actually loved the Les Mis chapter on Parisian sewers, I am SO here for that book.
Obviously we all have differing opinions on what cozy means exactly, but The Teller of Small Fortunes was one that I personally found cozy and delightful and I enjoyed it a lot.

As a union rep, I have been very disillusioned by some of the higher up union officials that I’ve met and/or heard of. But I’d still back them against upper level management.
France at least used to have a national spelling tournament in which a paragraph would be read & those participating would write it down & whoever had the fewest errors would win. It was a big deal, & people watched it at home & also tried to write down the paragraph.
I went ahead with Tusk Love first since that’s what I’d put myself in the mood for, & it did not disappoint. Fun, solid, likable characters, believable romance, real but not grim challenges, & a lot of fun. It will prob be most enjoyable for Critical Role fans but is accessible to non-Critters too.
I don’t know if there’s a Wikipedia page on the book, but that’s my fav site for book summaries of books I don’t want to read. (You may already have thought of this but thought I’d mention it just in case.)
I don’t know if this will help, but I found it very informative and learned a lot, and it gave me a better perspective on things that happened with FB that I was around for but didn’t have the inside knowledge to understand. So I strongly recommend it, even if there are issues w/ the author.

Plus there are many contradictory verses in the Bible & EVERYONE does some picking & choosing. It says a lot if in a faith proporting to follow Jesus, you throw out whatever he said about love is the greatest commandment & care for the poor & he was a refugee to promote genocide & hate.
And even then, you only need to avoid saying those things to the people that would be hurt. For example, I had a family member that was a jerk to me, but kind to some of my other family. I still complain about them, just not to those people who actually miss them. It’s super easy.

Thank you! This was super exciting because this particular family member doesn’t get the chance to come back “home” (ie where he grew up, prob not what he considers home now) very often, so it was a delightful surprise when his mom texted me to tell me the news.
I also had that odd moment of looking at a family members & seeing his face suddenly shift with his expression to be his dad’s face. I’d never noticed him looking like his dad, but he’s now reached the age that his dad has remained in my mind & now I can’t unsee it. (Which is fine, I loved his dad.)
Today I had the delight of seeing some family members I had last seen at my wedding. It was so wonderful to get the chance to catch up a bit, although no matter how hard I tried I didn’t successfully prepare myself for how big the kids are now. Family can be awesome.

I hear you so hard on this. I don’t foster, but we’ve committed to the cats we’ve adopted & giving them the best loves we can, & sometimes that really helps. Also about doing tho little things since sometimes that’s all you can do.
All of our cats are cute in my eyes, but she’s definitely the most conventionally beautiful of the bunch.
I’ve heard proposals for an edit button that will work for the first 5 min or so after you post, so that you can change typos but not gaslight people. I like that compromise.

As someone who is deeply familiar with Romanian cuisine, I must recommend the eggplant spread on the appetizer list. It is one of my favorite foods in the world, & something that is much greater than the sum of its parts.

It looks like mama’s final count is 6 babies. Everyone seems to be active and doing well. Mama gets off the nest when I pull back the cover of the playpen but she doesn’t hiss or growl or panic. I am going to give her a day or two to get more comfy before I handle the babies for weights and sexing.
My question as well; where is he? Have they sent him to Uganda, or did they actually keep him here?

In an attempt to remind myself and anyone else reading this that some things are still good in this world…. I got a lovely stretch of cross stitch done tonight, & I think I’ll finish this picture this week. Also, I had a cat fall asleep purring on my chest. It’s not all bad.
I am super jealous and now I want MY city’s mayoral candidates to do a scavenger hunt. I’ve done a number of “learn our history” walks around our city, but lots of people haven’t had that chance.

No numbers, but I’ve been athletic for several years & at one point was getting exercise every day, sometimes multiple times a day. My mom hated exercise & avoided it. Found an old drivers license of hers w/ her weight on it & we weighed almost the same (3lbs off). Clearly genetics for me.
My cat once again is discovering the joy of rolling around on the rug.
I’m happy for it to grow and thrive. I just never found my niche there, and finally gave up on it.
My dad was a great dad in many ways, but one of the best lessons he ever taught me through example was how to say I was wrong and how to genuinely apologize. Different skills but with definite overlap.
Yup! Or alternatively when I’ve written something that got a fair bit of engagement I specifically stated I was leaving it up so the people who saw the original can see the response showing that I made a mistake the first time.
