I just got more confirmation that buying DVDs is the way to go (for me). I "bought" Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Wererabbit a few years ago, but today we couldn't watch it because the rights expired. I did get a refund, but I would rather be able to watch the movie.

I completely agree. I remember how the world felt in 2020 when we could hear birds and see animals that hadn't been seen in ages. For a very brief moment it felt like we recovered our humanity trying to care for each other. And this feels like a massive evil reaction against that.

Yeah, I've told them multiple times that what's happening at their church is extremely similar to the church I left that split. But I'm the black sheep of the family, and the messaging from their "friends" is strong. I just can't talk about it with them anymore.
Yep. The worst part is that my parents aren't actually dispensational, but they've got that deeply ingrained sense of Calvinist guilt, so they won't leave. Even though they themselves have called it cultish.
Well, he got most of the way through the book then decided to preach a topical series on being an "old church". Their church is 30 years old, and I remember when it was started.
So... My parents' church is deeply dispensationalist, and earlier this year their pastor decided to preach through Hebrews. At one point he told the congregation that the book of Hebrews would be Christians' favorite book after the rapture. And then he stopped preaching through Hebrews. It was wild.
Same. I would be thrilled to have a 4 week summer. Give me all the fall.

I know families that are like this. Daughters are generally expected to live at home until such time as they get married or go live with an approved family to be a helper. It's extremely disturbing.

I guess it depends on what you're used to. I just moved to a town of 40,000 after living in a city of 500k for twenty years. It definitely feels like a small town to me. I have to drive an hour to get to a Target or Costco, and I can get across town in 10 minutes.
