For example: the COVID vaccines, including mRNA based, saved many lives. They just did.

This graph uses CDC data to show weekly death rates from COVID during the first years of the pandemic. Death rates are much much much lower for people who were vaccinated.

The so-called MAHA movement actually includes a lot of things (anti-vax, anti-fluoride, switch from seed oil to tallow, etc) that strong evidence shows will actually make people much less healthy, and even kill them. Words matter. We can't let that ideology claim healthiness.

I guess you can call me bearish on AI for this basic reason, because there's just no conceivable space for evading it. The entire value proposition turns on the outputs being of usable quality, but only humans can assess that—& the more complex the output, the more human labor is needed to check it!

Big news in today's #jobs report are the revisions. The labor market is much weaker than originally reported the last two months. While payrolls grew 73k in July, May and June data were revised down a total of 258k to 19k and 14k, respectively, bringing 3-month average growth down to 35k. #EconSky
