Legion of Super-Heroes is exactly the sort of team of bizarre weirdos James Gunn loves, too. You can practically hear him champing at the bit over the prospect of introducing Matter-Eater Lad to a worldwide audience.
Random theory based on nothing other than the title: Superman and Lex are fighting, get sucked into the future, meet the Legion of Super-Heroes, and are forced to work together to get back to the present. Puts Lex in a place where he has to reckon with Superman inspiring the future, not him.

The premiere promises a Parks & Rec-style show about people trying to do good in society by building up a newspaper to be a bastion of truth and justice in an unjust world. Instead, it's a The Office-style show about people bumbling through their jobs and (mostly) not knowing what they're doing.
...except they mostly don't care, and it's pretty much a non-factor since basically none of them know how a newspaper works anyway. And also, they spend most of their time goofing off.
The issue with the "volunteer journalist" thing they keep selling as the premise of THE PAPER is that the implication in the premiere is, since they have no budget, the people who work at the company already will try to make the paper great in their free time because they believe in journalism...
Sandwiched between an earnest, Frank Capra-esque premiere and an extremely The Office-style finale are eight episodes of THE PAPER that can't figure out what to do with all its characters, let alone what it wants to say about journalism... If anything at all.

Apropos of nothing, I've been slowly rewatching my way through Mr. Robot, and it's pretty clear how specifically the 2016 election impacted Sam Esmail, and the show. Season 2 ended Sept 2016, and was semi-purposefully going through the motions. It came back a year later, absolutely frickin' furious.

That definitely makes a lot of sense! I do think SOMEthing happened in 2014-2016, which is when 5th edition hit plus Critical Role plus aggressive expansion from Nerdist and Geek and Sundry plus Stranger Things plus etc etc. But the continued interest definitely points to what you said for sure.

I’m Jewish. I would not vote for a presidential candidate who questions whether I have the right to exist, because I am voting against my existence if so. You get that, right? Apply that same logic to any anti-trans candidate, and you’ll see why there’s no reason to vote for any of them, ever.

Anyway I don’t have anything in particular that’s helpful to offer here other than call your doctor and tell them you would very much like the new COVID vaccine when it’s available, because unless you’re over 65 or have a pre-existing condition you’re not going to get it.
Absolutely furious about the new COVID vaccine rules, which are going to lead to more rampant COVID outbreaks, and likely many more deaths. We had an incredible feat of science just a few years ago and now thanks to everyone who put RFK if office it’s for the most part gone.
