I don’t have a crystal ball. But keep in mind thatTrump was able to delay the court cases that would’ve stopped him for sure. Those delays allowed him back into power. So delaying consequences is a very real strategy that can help fight his admin. No one knows the future so we do what we can.
Yes. The unhelpful one I referred to is the latter. By making a change, do you mean doing something to change the situation? Plus I think there are other kinds of “acceptance” too, like seeing what’s happening and feeling too overwhelmed or frightened to act.

Still, what’s happening now to American institutions, international trade, voting rights, oppression of immigrants, etc is NOT the fault of Democrats. It’s 100% on Repubs. Dwelling in the past reveals cracks & weaknesses we won’t want to repeat. But it doesn’t help us fight this disaster.
I wasn’t pleased with several things Obama did. He should’ve gotten rid of the for-profit prisons for sure. I remember he tried to close Gitmo but don’t remember what roadblocks he faced.

It was the Congressional Republicans that blocked all efforts to pass bills to fix immigration problems. Every time. It was just last yr when there was a bipartisan immigration bill that was tanked when trump told them to vote no, even tho it was mostly written by conservatives.
Why? What did they do that’s even in the same category as the violations of civil rights and disregard for people’s legal status that the Trump admin is doing?
Sure - We can call for him to be fired as much as we like. But he’s doing his job of destroying infrastructure & institutions giving scientists legitimacy. Fascists must ruin trust in anything that might challenge their lies. Still - we must raise a ruckus to push back & support expertise.

I loved the crossover episode w/ Lower Decks when Boimler freaked out about Spock’s emotional displays. It’s been a relief for me watching Spock explore his human side. Since Covid, we’ve all been exploring our humanity in real life for good & bad, so it tracks w/ ST mirroring our struggles.
I liked it. Of course it’s ridiculous. But I think it’s really fun. The hair was hilarious. I mean - what’s wrong with pleasing the crowd? It’s a TV show about aliens of different species (not races) in space that all look like humans.
I remember T’pol from Enterprise used a medicine to dull her sensitivity and then after awhile, she became accustomed to humanity’s odor.
We’re supposed to see it and recognize it for the arrogance and ignorance that it is. I’m not sure why people expect to see a show that doesn’t challenge cultural assumptions and biases. If they watch the whole thing, there’s usually a recognition of the problems.
Some people see the bullying of Spock very personally. They think the 1/2 Vulcan comments are harmful bc having mixed identities means it’s painful not fitting in. But ST often shows bigotry & narrow-mindedness on purpose by using species from other planets.
It was funny watching Spock get out-Vulcaned by the others. (4 1/2 Vulcans to beam down Scotty! Lol) The fight/dance in the katra space was cool! Amazing choreography! Btw What’s a caked up guy? I can’t figure out what you mean…

If you didn’t like the new SNW episode, maybe you just don’t know the characters well or maybe ST just isn’t your jam. Because as a loooongtime ST fan who never misses an episode, this one is delightful and hilarious. Hard to imagine viewers not enjoying the fun.

I LOVE ST. But StarFleet is a military org: top down decisions, following orders even when the mission is unclear. It moves fast bc officers are given power to decide for the group. They work well together bc they all trust/believe in it. But plenty of episodes show what can happen w/ corruption.

Most people who don't want ranked-choice voting are the losers or voters who don't read the short paragraph on their ballot that explains it. I live in a city that has it & like it! It gives first-time or underfunded candidates a chance and means we don't have to have expensive runoff elections.
