I don’t care what Bill Maher thinks about literally anything, whether I agree with it or not, because it has been decades since he did anything except get attention for saying uninteresting things. People go after Kardashians and so on for “being famous for being famous.” Maher is the same.

Personally I loved it, and it got me to buy the Southern Reach trilogy! I almost always prefer books to their adaptations but a lot of good adaptations have turned me on to some of my favorite book.

FWIW, the “rent freeze” would only apply to rent-stabilized units, and is something DeBlasio did several times. Mamdani has also spoken a lot about the need to involve private sector in new construction as well. It sounds much more radical than it really is.
