It's quite blunt now that they have the power. What annoys me that they were very good earlier on to wrap it in "legitimate concerns" or to "protect women" or "protect children". Still remember the "Save the Children" demo here and then only later learned about QAnon. Trigger fear, switch off brain.
What I still deeply regret is that I didn't push back much but was trying to understand what drives that person but it's just hate wrapped in layers and layers of simple good/evil thinking. Since then repeated for other topics as well.

Been thinking of that a lot as it's a sign that the left needs a simple distinction for membership which at the end is always binary. In this way it's not much smarter than the right which is driven by good vs evil or simple explanations of the world (it's always the foreigners' fault).

I read your orig thread and your point is it's management types who drive it. But also academics full on buy into it and now also the new recruits are both hired on this premise (i.e. being car sales people with science optional). But it's certainly around company strategies: i.e. cash and growth.
It's not just scale but very conscious decisions towards hardcore management with KPIs, sales pitches, marketing, the so called internationalisation (i.e.tons of overseas students) and a massive expansion over the last 10 years as business should do. Promotion nowadays 99% about having raised cash.
On bluesky here one should introduce an X screenshot blocker. That would weed out about 99% of that kind of stuff. If I need an X digest there are enough sub-reddits doing nothing else than screenshotting X.

Certain? Well, as an EU citz it was day/night around the brexit vote. The racism came suddenly from all directions and sadly also from quite a people I regarded as friends. I never bothered about racism before 2016 in the UK but boy changed that in 2016 and it's still there.
First it was the Polish plumbers, ... It was always about blaming forrinners but endlessly wrapped in other "higher" reasons. Recently was meeting an old friend and when I said brexit was about racism she instantly defended her brexieer mom only she wanting the old days back and not racist at all.
My experience is that the weak students use AI literally to get through. Without AI they would just fail. Also if they haven't paid attention in class they can't change course now because they just don't know hot to do it. Obv also the lazy ones or those with bad time management.
Now are just waiting for the "credible evidence" that he's been a Hamas terrorist --- debunked, changed, debunked, rinse and repeat.
