I just got an invite to an alumni invite she will at in San Francisco. Just, no. So disgusted.

We were actually visiting UCLA the day she got her Brown rejection. 😂 I remain in awe of the education she got at UCLA. From the Honors College to the Prison Education Program to her research at a language acquisition lab. Why does administration always suck?
❤️-out to you. My daughter who just graduated in June from UCLA and started a one-year MA at Berkeley the week after graduation is infuriated. As are her friends. As a 40 yr. resident of the SF Bay Area, if UCLA stands firm I would be glad to transfer my monthly Brown $$$, to my kid’s alma mater.
I responded last month to the new call for alumni volunteers to do local outreach at high schools. The thank you email with details came the day after the capitulation. So ridiculous.
It was “Rocks for Jocks” for me. And as a Poli Sci major, the former number three man at the CIA was my advisor and the first professor I met during orientation week. Devastated, but not at all surprised.
Yeah, well. Resident-recent-college-grad was probably in to something when she took the Brown rejection with a grain of salt during the pandemic.

Class of ‘83, too . Did alumni interviews for years, given small but steady donations always. Went to my first reunion two years ago & while I had a lovely time, the place was unrecognizable to me. I loved Brown, but pretty sure today—17 yr. old me arriving on campus might not have felt as welcome.
This one really gutted me. So much alumni volunteer work. Not a year when I didn’t make a donation—albeit small. I went to my first reunion a few years ago and could tell it wasn’t the same place. But still.

Devastated. I replied a few weeks ago to join the new alumni volunteer team to recruit applicants at local high schools. Just got the “thank you for volunteering” email and I’m like-sorry, but just no.
Yeah. That was not fun.
I worked with many trans students while I was a librarian at Brown University. I am holding them heavily in my heart right now.
