Letterboxd says currently five films from the 60s on Peacock, and two of them are TV. Nothing before '66. (That data is definitely not 100% reliable - their data source is often wrong here and there.)

Yeah, true crime seems more interested in the crimes than the investigation. Not always, and how they get caught is definitely covered, but a lot of focus on the criminals and their acts. More monster stories than mysteries.
Thomas A (@binkytom.bsky.social) reply parent
The whole response and alarmism about crime is based on 1980s crime. It hasn't evolved. Trump since the 80s has been pushing for an aggressive response to 80s crime, and it doesn't matter if the world changed - Trump's taste for busting heads remains the same

White people's fear of carjacking is way or of proportion to the actual risk. In my lifetime, the two most famous "victims" were lying to hide their complicity in murder. (They assumed it would work, because they believed it was the kind of crime that happens every day.)

I barely remember the ending of Beyond, because my memory is of the chaos. I vaguely recall the chaos falling away and it becoming mostly about a potential love story? It feels like trying to remember the plot of a Marx Brothers movie, though
Thomas A (@binkytom.bsky.social) reply parent
I put River on my watch list months before watching, and it stayed there, because I saw the title, remembered adding it, but not knowing why, and guessing it was some kind of family drama. Maybe like an Ozu film. I saw the Beyond... title and tried it within days
Thomas A (@binkytom.bsky.social) reply parent
It is definitely more mature. Beyond... is basically farce. But I've also just heard so many people talk about Beyond..., perhaps because the title inspires more people to give it a try. (River is a terrible title.) "What was that time loop movie I read about last week?"

This comment is very confusing. Are the weirdos Fox News? If so, they are not outraged at the puns. Are they the folk outraged by the pun? Then they are certainly outraged by Trump's racist talk of "good genes." Just very confused.
Thomas A (@binkytom.bsky.social) reply parent
Any actual decision-makers? This is called "nut-picking," because both sides have extreme and even insane members, but on one side, the nuts are running the show. And disliking the ad is different from wanting to cancel the ad's star. I dislike it. I'd boycott the company, but I'm not a customer
Thomas A (@binkytom.bsky.social) reply parent

Thomas A (@binkytom.bsky.social) reply parent
There's a vague notion here that the media doesn't make a choice on what outrage to promote. They definitely do. There is a significant branch of media which only reports the latest fake conservative outrage. This is not because Dems are bad at it and Reps good.
