Our 15 years in this old house is an exercise in something breaking, or being upgraded, and replacing the inevitable drywall screw the PO used. had a door get loose. Checked the hinges. Three drywall screws, and several other screws of various lengths and uses. Dude was definitely a tin can guy.
As an owner of an old house, I can see every one of those screws in my mindās eye. Not one of them is the proper one. None are like the others, except the two 1.25ā drywall screws. One of the brass ones has a stripped head.
