Most materials are very apolitical. It's some rightwing fantasy that teaching math and reading is politically biased. The real problem is the lack of materials due to budget cuts. Teachers end up buying the materials with their own money.
Actually, teachers will probably continue to teach children to read, write, and do math - limited resources and for lousy pay.

The media isn't covering them, but there are daily protests nationwide. It's very frustrating, and I unsubscribed from 3 newspapers during the general election because they normalized Trump daily while he was saying exactly what he planned to do. Shameful.
And those people are wrong. It's happening before our eyes.

Everyone cares and everyone's terrified. You have no idea how scary it is to live here right now. Most people I know are putting together an escape plan. it's that bad. Do not come here on vacation, and please share that widely. It isn't safe for anyone.
Our traditional newspapers (The New York Times, The Washington Post, etc.) never cover the protests. We're completely dependent on Bluesky and outstanding independent journalists for information and to find out what's really going on. We are very close to 1938, and it's scary.
There are marches and protests all the time, everywhere. Town halls are filled with people screaming at their senators and congressional reps. Protesters are at Tesla dealerships every day.

I’m not exactly sure where this is coming from. I’m a boomer and there were massive demonstrations over civil rights and the Vietnam War. Once the war was over, the protests died down, but anyone who’s a teacher has to go to demonstrations every few years to get a decent contract.
