It sucks that football is such a dangerous sport for the players, because it has a level of tactics that I don't think you get in any other sporting event. I know that basketball and soccer have tactical decisions, but in football I can actually SEE those decisions.

I think the "learned at 5" thing is important, though. Basically no one learns to play tabletop games from the rulebook. It's an oral tradition passed from player to player. The entire idea of "we need to read about this first" is a barrier to entry.
My pet peeve is songs that rhyme "again" with "rain" or "plain," but they still pronounce it as "uh-gehn" so that it DOESN'T EVEN RHYME IN PRACTICE MF DOOM made "standard" rhyme with "candid" but some singers pretend that two words rhyme without PRONOUNCING THEM AS RHYMING WORDS

I thought about this, and I think if I wanted to emphasize trying different combos, I would've done fewer common cards and had more different factions, a la Monster Train. Then have a checklist like "Lumberjacks / Clergy won Hard Mode 8/29/26" for faction combos.

And to convince myself that I should absolutely not keep playing Drop Duchy, I finally bought UFO 50. And after trying 5 of the cartridges there, I feel like I already have conflicting thoughts on that one.
I look at the huge unlockable skill tree in the game and go, "Wow, look at all these buildings I never want to unlock because I just want to build River Castle every run." Totally worth the $15 for a few hours of playing with it, but don't expect the world from it.
The interesting thing about Drop Duchy is there doesn't seem to be rarities? You're just as likely to get each different type of building? Which means it feels pretty easy to draft the strongest building each game and run with that, instead of coping with what you have.
Drop Duchy is the kind of interesting puzzle experience that can only be made by small indie-monded companies, a clever, press-your-luck crossover of Carcassonne and Slay the Spire. And after winning a few runs on normal difficulty, I said, "Aight, that's enough," and uninstalled.
While away from the computer, I downloaded the rulebooks for Arcs and Lightning Train and wrote an outline for rules teach videos, mostly based on the idea of "The rules aren't that complicated if you'd actually overview the fundamentals of the game at the beginning" on both of them.
After a few weeks away from my computer and/or struggling with fatigue issues, I finally got back to work on writing The Project. And the main thing that came out of it is: you ARE going to learn what Bloom's Taxonomy is, dammit.

I went to jury duty at a precinct courthouse. The judge said it's the busiest courthouse in Texas. They had 350 civil and misdemeanor cases on the docket that day. And they chose zero people for jury because all 350 of the cases settled or took pleas. 🤷♂️

Stuck in Phoenix. Went to a Mexican restaurant. Ordered chiles relleno. The chiles... were not filled with anything? They were breaded and cooked soft but nothing else in them? And it was decent food. But it's also like... I can't wait to get back to hole-in-the-wall Mexican food in Houston.
