What I want is to be able to hitup a standard api for each company, like "widgetco.com/billing" and "onlinetoolz.com/billing" to get this info in a standardized way.
borderless (@borderless.bsky.social) reply parent
So that's at least 5 places to check for 1 transaction. And every website has a different layout / section this stuff is in. Or if they email it to you sometimes they let you out in a billing email, other times they send it to the admin accounts email.
borderless (@borderless.bsky.social) reply parent
Neither. It's more like "$9.99 charge from WidgetCo shows up on your bank statement". Now where do I find the invoice and/or receipt? They could be at some combo of: - WidgetCo website - 3rd party payment platform - email - photo of paper receipt a team member submitted - nowhere

There are a lot companies building and marketing generalized "everything" tools that get things wrong a lot. There are far fewer companies building smart interfaces over deep tech stacks a la human <> ai <> deterministic api.

Yes but the marketing and go-to-market approach for the current crop of AI companies was very poor in regards to this.

I don't see how LLMs are relevant here? The time consuming part isn't copying transaction data. I can already pull transaction records from our bank into quickbooks. It's the documentation for each transaction. Every website has its own billing interface, invoices to email, receipt photos, etc
