It seems like the problem is some AI might be useful in conjunction with people to improve certain things, but all any institution wants them for is to cut human labor costs. Using them that way will probably just make everything shittier.
I have found it very strange how many seemingly smart people say they use it for research. I found it was impossible to trust for analyzing text at least, but dangerous because it sounds so plausible if you don't double check you might buy it.
My personal experience is with any LLM they will make stuff up a majority of the time. Then "apologize" and go back to making stuff up. It doesn't know what it's saying.
