Columbia University has failed to defend academic freedom & freedom of speech & allowed a great institution to be bullied & extorted into submission by an administration hellbent on contorting higher education to their will. The AAUP condemns this capitulation. We can & must fight back.

If other universities don’t want Columbia to be the first domino, they need to separate themselves from Columbia and make clear they are no longer members in good standing of the club of real universities. Suspend accreditation, no more borrow direct, etc. Basically BDS, but for Columbia.

The students at my university held a walkout this past Wednesday to protest the Trump/Musk administration's policies. I wonder whether Columbia students will hold a similar protest to object to their administration's craven capitulation to the government's demands.
My daughter is a freshman at Columbia. She is angry & 💔 . She returns Sunday from spring break. I have told her to join any protest. Wear a mask. Help those students that feel fear. I will bail you out. Do not surrender your university to shame. Because without you, Columbia doesn’t exist.
