It's a serious problem that our trust in institutions has eroded so much, but they deserve it. Universal basic income will help because it is the act of institutions trusting us all. Trust given is trust earned, and various basic income experiments like the one in Finland have shown increased trust.
They are certainly looking - but so's half the league. Everyone has buckets of cap, and there are few C's. Not saying they won't land one, but it shouldn't be a surprise if we start the year with what we have.

I'm not as rigid about that a anymore - we're seeing more data around who can take faceoffs on what side, who is on their backhand, etc and I think it opens up the world a bit in that respect. I say this as an old school Joel Otto fan & 3C respecter, I see the validity in your thinking as well.
He's been inconsistent, and bad at faceoffs. Those are my knocks - the rest of his game is quite serviceable. All he needs to find that other level is consistency in playing a stiffer game throughout the year. He should be a good middle six player.
He may not see it that way & Newhook is perfectly acceptable as a 3C for most teams. He's less likely to force a move than do something drastic just to plug a hole. He's a patient guy.

Small example, but coming over from marketing, I've had to explain why you shouldn't use AI-generated video for social media branding - VC types are astounded/offended that "human community mangers" are a requirement for authentic brand-building. You can't automate actual empathy out of the loop.
I take that long view as well. Even where it's bad, it's still being *used* as replacement. Our profession needs empathy as a key skill - I think we also have a role to play in enabling people with emerging tech & helping the MBA class understand where humans are necessary at any cost.
