Read a post about how D&D’s "dual mode" design of exploration vs combat often pushes non-combat scenes into fights. By contrast, Daggerheart’s "single-mode" design keeps encounters fluid, following the story and characters over rigid mechanics.
I don't really understand the colleges completely yet, but the new environments and stuff are great.
Sorry, I was sleeping. Yeah, it's in career mode, glad you figured it out. I'm using my existing career mode, which means I have to progress the timeframe to 3050, and I'm currently at 3042. I'm already seeing some new mechs and weapons though, and received a couple special MechWarriors.
That's really potatoes potahtos, but ok. I've run detective adventures in just about every RPG system I've run, so it's certainly not true for everyone. Anyway, I recommend reading the Daggerheart SRD and seeing if it's right for you.
Well, I disagree a bit that mechanics are what the story is based on, but that aside you have the same sort of options you just mentioned in DH.
Classes in Daggerheart get at least 2 main class abilities, plus a subclass ability, plus 2 Domain cards (plus at least 1 per level), plus 3 heritage abilities, plus Experiences. I think options DURING PLAY will be fine.
What's more limiting in DH DURING PLAY? It doesn't have the amount of spells that a game of 45+ years has, but considering you have spell slots DURING PLAY, how many less options do you really have? The Grimoire cards in DH have 3 spells each, & u can use them as much as you want... DURING PLAY.
I don't really see how it's their "problem" that the game is literally selling out everywhere despite numerous restocks. There is a free SRD, and the PDF is available for purchase this entire time.

Why wouldn't it be? How much variety does a level 10 5e barbarian or fighter have? You make almost no real decisions when you level up a lot of 5e classes. You make decisions every level for Daggerheart.
I waited for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC, Shadow of Kerensky to release, and now I have it, except now I have to wait for the entire game to re-install! This DLC must be a larger overhaul than I thought, can't wait! $19.99 on Xbox store for anyone curious. #Battletech #Mechwarrior

It's also not really true, unless you also want to call Stress "just HP", etc. Armor is a resource, and not always the best option over just losing an HP. It's also another lever that can be pulled for abilities and Adversary features.
Picked up Daggerheart recently and designing my own player box has been so fun (also Daggerheart is a great rule set and I'm enjoying it a lot!)
I have them in my list, but haven't had a chance to start yet. Looking forward to it.

I thought I got more shots from yesterday's #Battletech Hinterlands campaign. Mission: Pushback. I was attacker. OpFor was a lone Phoenix Hawk and some infantry and vees. I managed to clobber him, though the Pixie did DFA my Bloodhound, knocking him down 3 levels. I did win, however.
Five sessions into #Daggerheart and I feel changed. I'm more confident in my DM'ing. My players seem to be loving the system (at least 3/6.) My world is coming together, and people are *taking notes and speculating!* This is like micro dosing that weird 'success' thing people apparently have
Balance of Terror is a perfect Star Trek episode. I can't say it's my absolute favorite, because there are so many great ones, but it's way up there.
Generations is the worst Star Trek movie, and it honestly would have been better if Kirk had just remained presumed dead than... whatever was happening in Generations.
I think I'm one opinion behind on this thread, so: I'm glad Strange New Worlds is trying new things (like a comedy episode and a musical.) I mean, comedy isn't even new to Star Trek. I literally have no idea what these "fans" are talking about. And the musical episode is pure Trek.
I played Daggerheart for the first time today and it was so good! I love that everyone collaborates on creating the setting and basic premise. It makes it easier to develop a character and relationships in the group. Plus I love that you can create/name your own experiences! I'd love to play more.

I think this is correct. Even though there are more numbers on the d20, when you roll it the odds of it rolling the same number as the d12 is 1 in 20.
GMing Daggerheart (my first ever GM experience) was awesome! I had a lovely time telling stories with my friends and introducing them to this new system (which they all enjoyed🤩). I even surprised them with two maps and minis (my old Warhammer minis and some Vox Machina ones 😂) their expressions >

Skulks generally hang to the edges of the battle, picking off targets or using stealth. Those numbers run to the higher end (for tier 2) and make them pretty tanky.

Looks good! I haven't had a chance to watch Mike's video yet, so these suggestions might be way off his own. I'd lower the thresholds to 9/18 Remove one HP and add one Stress 3d12 extra damage seems super high. Maybe instead of their regular damage they do 2d10+2 with the spend?

There's a certain group of TTRPG players whose reaction to Daggerheart is absolutely fascinating to me; they appear genuinely offended by the idea that the game should be approached in good faith, with trust between the GM and players, and without looking to exploit every possible mechanic to 'win'.
Last night I ran the 2nd session of #Daggerheart for a group of players who've been playing DnD for 30 years.Unintentionally,it ended up being (mostly) 2 big battles-because of player choices.What resulted was 3 hours of hilarity,chaos,stress & fun.I have never seen this group so engaged in combat.

I played Daggerheart last night and boy was I absolutely correct in my assessment that it’s “what if D&D made a 6e where they bothered to learn what’s fun.” It’s got the juice.
We played our first Daggerheart a couple weeks ago and it stole our hearts. Such a fun and simple system with so much room to create epic moments.
Ran my first Daggerheart session yesterday. Proved relatively easy to GM (esp with one player who’d played before) and a fun engaging system. Converted a D&D scenario I had lying around and that was easy too.

Very, very often people say things and don't have a clue what they are talking about.
Here you can see that AoU beat two similar dark themed one-offs (that both used D&D iirc) By this comparison, their employees would have been fine.
I think a lot of that is because in general their one-off games don't get as many views. Age of Umbra is very different flavor than their main campaigns. A more interesting comparison would be how their D&D one-offs compare to the Daggerheart one. Elden Ring: 1.4m Diablo: 1.2m Age of Umbra: 1.5m
