Agreed. That said, each item from your list cld be the subject of an extended discussion not suited for BS. The uphot is, nothing in the list rises even remotely to the level of what’s happening on the other side, & yet those voters remain steadfast. Hence my point abt the asymmetry of the moment.
Agreed ppl need to think big picture, which is a corollary to my overarching point. If Tom’s right, which is possible, & use of those terms causes a person to not vote D or to vote third party, then there’s an asymmetry at play that likely can’t be surmounted, bc the other side has no such qualms.
Perhaps bc NYC is among the safest of the big cities, and far safer than many “red state” cities, relatively spkg.

Iowa was certainly an interesting development.
All the terms on the list Tom was referring to—he didn’t create it—have a proper place. As I see it, the issue is, generally spkg, Ds don’t use them outside the appropriate context, & so it makes no sense to say they’re the reason we are where we are today.
Being a person who subscribes to the view that expertise matters — perhaps someone wise will someday write a book abt that — and not being an expert on raindrops and their thought processes, I’ll accept that as true. That said, I stand by my overarching point.
Ds are winning elections. Just not all elections. And the suggestion that using the term “stakeholder” is what’s causing them to lose the ones they do lose flies in the face of reason when viewed in the overall context of the moment.
Depends on the context, of course.

I majored in English, at Davidson College & then at UVA, from which I received my degree, & one of my takeaways from my education is that one’s hopes & dreams are real &, cliched as it may sound, spring eternal. So my advice, for what it’s worth, is to keep the faith & illegitimi non carbororundum.
