Come on! The man does not pivot, he lurches, and I am certain he does not believe he will ever die. Nor does he concede that anything that belongs to him should ever belong to anyone else. He just wants another big gaudy show-off space. It's that simple.
One cannot craft a meaningful strategy without a cold-eyed, unsparing assessment of the situation and the opposition. I am much more comfortable with that process, as discouraging as it may be, than I am with avoidance of reality. It truly surprises me how many people can't/won't meet me there.
He's never going to make it easy. I see him as entitled, vain, and ready to throw people and causes under the bus, but also unafraid to take action when either opportunity presents or on the rare occasions he actually believes something. He's infuriating, but also can be effective.
