Places like Dollar Tree are exactly where someone trying to pass a phony hundred dollar bill would go. They buy something really cheap and then get real money in change. There will be several people hitting all the stores changing out bad bills for good.

I would argue that the streets belong to the homeless as much as they belong to anyone else. The problem (for them) is that, while many of us have someplace else to go...they don't.
We're not turning our backs on them. We're waging war on them. They'd be better off if we turned our backs on them.

I'm so sorry to see this. I know exactly how it feels. It feels awful. We had our beagle mix, Champ, go quickly, although he was already 13. One of my brothers died a week later, and I hardly gave it notice because I was still mourning Champ. A dog that chewed up both my hands at one time!
I think the Affordable Care Act is (was) more than a shiny thing. Imagine what he could have done with more support.

When I was in 5th or 6th grade, around 1964ish, I read, "Go Up For Glory" by Bill Russell (the Boston Celtic center). A young white kid from the suburbs was shocked to find out that the black players had to stay, and eat, at different places than the white players. What the fuck!?

I finally finished "Don Quixote", the best book I've ever read. I was also hoping to play racquetball for the first time in six months. I had my second hip replacement 13 weeks ago, and figured I'd be good. I lasted five minutes before I tweaked something in that brand new hip. Bittersweet week.
I hear you again. I wasn't really a problem drinker, although my wife may tell you a different story. My dad, and one of my brothers, drank themselves to death in their fifties. I'm diabetic, and I needed a knee replacement. A1C levels are critical to that, so I cut alcohol for a couple of reasons

We don't import much sugar. I'm pretty sure we're a net exporter. The sugar industry here gets huge subsidies!
I haven't had a drink, with the exception of a beer with my daughters at a hockey game last year, in six or seven years. But I'm with ya! I'm thinking about picking up a fifth.

Anyone that thinks people are homeless because they are lazy, has no idea how hard it is to be homeless. It's hard enough to just be poor, but multiply that by...a lot, and you'll approach the level of difficulty it is to be without a place to sleep...or eat...or go to the bathroom.
