So my unpopular opintion is that we should have WAY MORE politicians, not fewer.
So you end up fulfilling that prophecy because you become beholden to your donors and lobbyists who provide the money that help you convince voters that it's actually your opponent who is corrupt.
Donors and lobbyists.
When you have a lot of power, and more constituents than you can possibly respond to, who are you going to pay attention to?
So then you have fewer politicians who thus have a lot more power and represent larger constituencies.
Once you plant that seed, you start to say "there's too many politicians" and everybody nods and passively accept the cutting back on the number of people representing the public. (Looking at you Ontario PCs)
The idea that all politicians are evil and/or corrupt is authoritarian propaganda, and EVERYBODY fell for it.
I feel like the solution to this is wider bike lanes
Like when they said "come visit, it's still safe," and we didn't.
This is a great article. I do not worry one bit about AI taking over from humanity because there are two more urgent concerns: 1. The foisting of AI upon us without our consent, and its use as a tool of (very human) oppression. 2. The environmental disaster that AI is already creating.

Right on red is probably the most dangerous thing a cyclist faces. A month ago I saw a young kid fly over the hood of a car because a right on red car pulled in front of him (he was ok-ish). I didn't trust a single driver as I come up to a light where I have the right of way.
You could easily take everything that is being said about New York here and apply it to Toronto. The Toronto subway is also not scary. You are way yyz more likely to die driving or trying to cross a street.
