Never forget 🥲
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Remember when everyone discovered the lighting effects in Photoshop 5 or whatever and suddenly lens flare was in everything? And eventually it became a gag because not only was it an obvious crutch, but it also looked cheap as hell? Anyway how's all that weird yellow AI art going
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Lmfao good LORDT
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Also extremely telling: that it's Your Idol that's hitting as hard as it is and not Soda Pop (Look, they're both good songs but entire religions were erected because they knew we would willingly give a bunch of demons our souls if they're sexy enough)
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
People act like Americans are irreparably fractured but the Saja Boys' "Your Idol" climbing the Billboard Top 10 charts shows us that we can find common ground: being thirsty little bitches for a group of beautiful demon boys

But if you are interested, let me know cuz I can put in a referral which will generate a special link just for you to apply to! And sorry to blast this out in public, I use Bluesky so rarely that I didn't realize there wasn't a way to DM
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
(caveat it IS a Harry Potter game which understandably is a dealbreaker for a lot of artists so no pressure if it's not what you want!)

@nimasprout.bsky.social Hey Nima, I don't know if you're in the market or if this is the kind of thing you're interested in but I thought of you when I saw this listing! wd5.myworkday.com/warnerbros/d... My understanding is that they might be able to swing fully remote for the right candidate.
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Wait I swear to god you had both your brow and septum pierced
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Gorgeous!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I think they do! I’m secretly hoping to influence people into transforming their front lawns 😆
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh yeah definitely! I’ve got that one grape going up the arbor but I want to add a clematis to the other side for more interest.
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I want to add more of the shorter varieties too! I love how many there are to choose from. I really focused on height when selecting plants (for privacy reasons, haha) and ended up liking the effect! I like having to wade through my plants a little bit 😆
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
It is indeed! This is the Cloth of Gold variety. I honestly didn’t realize how tall they get when I got the seeds, but I’m really digging them!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
That’s such high praise, thank you! 🥹
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Just a bunch of silly billies
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m furiously taking down notes so I don’t bust my own big pots 😅😅😅
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Agh, I’ve been there! Hopefully your squash recovers nicely.
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
That honestly sounds satisfying, hahaha. But yeah I never really looked into it but winter weather's my guess too! Does everyone else bring all of their pots in for the winter?
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Haha oh no! I've never had a pot lose its lip that cleanly but pretty much all of them have chipped at this point. I thought terracotta pots were supposed to be durable??
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
The front yard was a total blank canvas when we bought the place, which was part of the appeal. I made a veggie garden space and filled it with river rocks, then a wide border with lots of shrubs so our house had a bit more privacy from the sidewalk. Now no one can see when I’m milling about ✨
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Found this photo of our front yard from right after we bought the house 3.5 years ago, compared to here our front yard looks now. It doesn’t even look like the same lot! 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh yeah, I’ve heard of little free pantries that put out extra veggies that people grow! Garlic and potatoes are a great thing to put out too since they hold up well!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
It's a crime that Netflix doesn't have official Huntrix music videos online ala K/DA (yes I know there are lyric videos, but I mean MVs that aren't re-cut from movie footage). I want MORE!!! #kpopdemonhunters
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Most importantly, hi Andrea!! 💖💖 and yeah I’ve been loving it- I’ve gotten to know so many of my neighbors this way and it’s been a great little community builder. I started with just some extra plant starts in old cardboard boxes on the curb but it’s turned into a whole operation since 😆
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you!! 💖💖
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Haha it say “I’m back! Please don’t steal this stand” because I had a smaller plant stand before this one that got stolen 😅
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Love that! That’s how this stand started too- I would just put out random plants I had extras of on our curb and they were always gone within the day. People love plants!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh yeah that would be great! Giving away plants can get addicting too- once you start it becomes a whole habit!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I fill it with starts that I have extras of (I start a lot of seed so I always have extra), bouquets when I can, and then collected seeds in the fall. I love seeing my neighbors drop by and get excited about whatever I put out that day 💖
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
It is! And my neighbors love it too, which helps ✨
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
All those cute airstreams are so pricey tho 😭
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Your drawings are so good, Irene, omg! Every piece you do is stunning!! And yeah I’m at NR- almost 3 years! Kinda weird to be on the dev side when I’m such a poor fighting game player, haha
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Irene draws the way I wish I could draw ;w;
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
I went all in on tiger lilies of several varieties for the front yard but the one native to my region has such delicate flowers, it feels like a seeing a little fairy 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Nye beach is my favorite spot! Such a charming spot to hang out at. So glad you had a good time there!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
So that conversation our server was having about people falling over and dying because they won’t use slightly phallic handrails? I think it’s that
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
They really do! I like to mill about just as the sun's going down because the roses look like they're lit up and the smell is so heavenly. My neighbors comment on how I'm always out there, hahaha
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
bsky.app/profile/duck... I'm LIVID
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
The truly sinister part of all of these layoffs is that they’re also studios that require you to move, which not only means to a high cost center but to a place that may be far from your support network, your established friends and family. They just want your labor at the expense of your life.
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Argh, forgot the 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
The last rose in the previous skeet is one that came with the house and, like all roses that came with this house, was in terrible condition. Out of control black spot and a root stock that kept trying to take over. I’ve been working hard on it and it’s finally looking strong!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Roses are almost completely in full bloom here, with the exception of a couple shrubs. I have yellow/hot colored roses out front and they’re becoming a neighborhood attraction ✨
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Other garden finds for the day: a sweet little bumblebee we found sleeping on a peony 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Self-sown sweet peas. The ones I planted this year have a way to go before they bloom, but these ones are a nice early surprise 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
It’s rose season over here and the garden smells amazing. I think my favorite flower right now are the foxgloves tho- you can’t beat that whimsy! 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Right?? I’m out there grabbing slugs out of my lettuces and throwing them on to the sidewalk for the birds to devour, blasting aphids off my lilies with the hose. There is no peace!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
They’re gorgeous! Do you have the name of the pastel variety in the third image?
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
People think of gardening as a soothing, gentle hobby but they don’t know how often “be ruthless” comes up as gardening advice
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
My pride and joyyyyyy but also lmfao at that gif
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you! 😭
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
When we moved in 3 years ago this garden was completely bare, except a few rose bushes in really bad shape. I’m really pleased with the progress but it’s got a ways to go yet!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Some rogue stole my little free plant stand (the stand! The whole stand!!) but at least my backyard border is coming along 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Ooh, what varieties are you thinking? And I’ll definitely have to make the drive up! I can’t believe I’ve been in OR for so many years and haven’t gone yet!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s such a beaut! This isn’t the best photo but here it is in daylight. The buds are almost red, which looks so nice on the shrub!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Oooh, I didn’t realize Adelmans was that close! I got a bunch of their peonies last year and I’m waiting for them to bloom right now ✨✨✨
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
… and the yellows 🌱 I have so many more varieties about to bloom, I can’t wait!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Is this Schreiner’s? I’ve been wanting to go, esp if it’s dog friendly!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I love it so much! It’s actually my late MiL’s shrub, dug up and mailed to us by their neighbor from Long Island. I’m not sure what variety it is exactly but my guess is Jubilee Celebration 🤔
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
May means the start of the summer bloomers around here 🌱 our backyard is mostly white in the spring but as the summer flowers come in the palette changes to pastel pinks and purples 💖🌸💖
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m counting on more volunteer columbines! I love when they self seed and I get more for free 😆
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Currently my favorite spot in the back yard with the columbines in fully swing 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m using twine for now- I have screws going up at 1” intervals to tie the twine to, and since these are for peas I think it’ll be fine. I might have to switch to wire if I use it for anything heavier, like cucumbers.
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you! Not a kit, just a super simple design based on what was available at my closest hardware store 😄
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
My black panther peony bloomed! This is her first spring in our garden so I wasn’t expecting much but she’s gorgeous! 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Ack, forgot the 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Decided this year that I’m going to step up my trellis and plant support game. T posts and PVC pipes worked fine but I wanted something that looked a little better. Here’s the first of my DIYs: a hinged trellis for my peas!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks Elaine! I love seeing people stop by and look at the everything that’s available 💖
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
And who doesn’t love a lovely little present? 💖
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
That’s the hope! I want to make gardening feel accessible to my neighbors and hopefully be a catalyst in their own growing adventures!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank youuuu! It took me three days, on and off, while the rest of the family grew bored and moved on to other stuff after about an hour 😆
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh yes, please keep me posted! My hellebores are all done now and I already miss them!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
I like to paint wooden Easter eggs, and this is this year’s. Do you see the teeny duckling? 🐥
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
I really need to get myself an IRL witch hat 🥲
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Right? It felt like such a revelation even though they’ve been blooming their heads off for months!
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Just to be clear, since my handwriting can get a little crowded, the variety is the Double CLICK Snow Puff 😅
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
I have a little free plant stand in front of my house and sometimes it feels like more of an excuse for me to indulge in my love for stationery and packaging 🌱

First garden bouquet of the year! I always have a hard time finding filler plants in the spring because most of what’s in season are my bulbs, but the faded hellebores worked pretty well here 🌱

Thanks Greta! 💖

Such an exciting time! I love seeing daffodil buds about to burst open.
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Mystery solved! These are the White Marvel daffodil 🌼
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
Hope y’all aren’t tired of daffodil pics because these guys just opened up and I love them. I know they’re bulbs I planted, but I can’t remember what variety they are 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
This site lets you search keystone plants based on your zip code, which I found the most useful nativeplantfinder.nwf.org?_ga=2.975589...
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social)
This is a great resource! I use Doug Tallamy’s list of keystone plants to figure out what natives to incorporate in our yard, from trees to groundcover plants.
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you! I’m going for mostly white but I can’t resist adding some soft colors in there
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Meanwhile I gave the opposite going in the front yard: lots of yellows and oranges with some hits of blue for contrast 🌱
Sara Talmadge (@charapoo.bsky.social) reply parent
Totally! It’s so hard to resist the allure of more colorful varieties but I’m definitely all in on a moonlight garden now ✨
