okay, that's a fair reply. I guess what I meant is that, even though I don't personally love Loeb's scripting or plotting, I think he's really good at choosing collaborators and writing to their strengths, something most of the great comic writers share? I meant it as a compliment to Loeb and Sale.
I'm not a huge Loeb fan, but I think he's mastered maybe the most valuable skill a comic book writer can have: convince a good artist to work with them, write to their strengths, and let them carry the storytelling.

I'm deep in a research project and I had to declare mobile games outside of its scope because I just can't play the games or find any reports from people who have. A press release and a couple grainy screenshots and that's it -- if you're lucky!
this piece is really good, and speaks to a huge problem: mobile games, especially the 99.9% that aren't cultural juggernauts, end up basically undocumented. Most mobile games go offline after a few years. Once they're gone, it's basically impossible to find in-depth info about how they play.

Disappointing but not unexpected; the progression-based "numbers go up" mechanics that power most modern games are fundamentally incompatible with Tolkien's themes, imo, even in a cozy context (also, I think the whole "cozy" angle flattens out a lot of what makes the Shire charming and interesting).

I think some people have trouble seeing fascism as anything other than 1940s Germany. But I think 'people going to a comic convention needing to have a plan in case the government's goons show up to disappear people' is a pretty good demonstration of what it can look like in 2025.
