Whether or not these people are actual foreign agents is almost irrelevant. Their actions are observationally equivalent to & indistinguishable from the actions actual foreign agents would be taking. The consequences of our total Article I constitutional crisis, right here:

Today is the 47th anniversary of this clearly unimprovable photo, from a story so absurd that it shouldn’t be true, but is: the day a team of workers from British Waterways pulled the plug out of the Chesterfield Canal, and all the water emptied out

A man with a spectacular 1970s mullet, wearing big wellies and a v-neck jumper over a T-shirt, looks at camera as he stands on a boat which is itself standing on the muddy bottom of an empty canal. He is holding up an enormous wooden plug on a long chunky chain

I agree on a family level. I'm in that process at the moment. But on a society level I think there's something different happening. Or not different, but related. I'm not sure we can comprehend a disease killing people in our circle and understand others dieing the same way in thousands of places.

Feels like there was lots of trauma from not being able to go to the bar, or hairdresser, or send the kids to school..And the loss of neighbors/family can get handwaved away if it's inconvenient. At least for some. It's hard to have a good marker that resonates in 100-500 years like hungerstones.

I've mentioned to friends that one way spike strips might be the only functional way to control traffic when people disregard seemingly obvious road features. In the same area while sitting in traffic I watched someone drive the wrong way to get on 520-E. I guess hoping for no oncoming traffic?

That's an ok trivia/softball team name. Not a book title.

An egregious one I saw on a ride was someone crossing over and driving towards oncoming cars to make this illegal (and not very useful) left turn. I highlighted the curb since it's not clear from google maps but it's one narrow lane in each direction with a hard curb divider.

Example of car driving into oncoming traffic to make an illegal left turn that's blocked by a divider. On lake Washington boulevard at 520

That screenshot reminds me of the New Yorker article about Chinese lingerie dealers in Egypt. And the description of a brides to be going to the shop with her brother, fiance, and mother. www.newyorker.com/magazine/201...

And somehow it almost always seems busy for me. But that is during non commute hours.

Seriously. The end section in Redmond makes the difference really clear.

This is a really interesting story. I've only read the second part but I'm glad I caught it.

I like finding out new things where I live. One of my neighbors recently told me many chimneys nearby are covered from an earthquake in the 60s. Another woman told me about how her corner used to be a gas station and she still finds stuff in her garden years later. Some people are less into it.
