Phoenix (and the entire Intermountain West) spent late last week with triple-digit temps. The same heat wave that's only now hitting the eastern third of the country. Phoenix hit 117 last Thursday.
Lots of places in the Mountain West and desert Southwest have low humidity. Lots of us use swamp coolers (evaporative coolers) instead of refrigerant-based AC. That said, I sure do like my swamp cooler on hot days.
