I’m out walking the dog on this beautiful day and listening to a Delta Green actual play, the Oil Rig on RPPR. Have you heard it? If not, it’s time.
Following the #Rifts finale, I’m still debating: what’s the next longer campaign for 9 players? This morning’s contender? #Dune: #AdventuresintheImperium. The idea of the crew building their own House is appealing (I may be biased as a writer on the book ), so many games & so little time to play.
That’s a wrap on the #Rifts mini-campaign! 🎲💥 Now the big question: what’s next? Do I keep the retro vibes rolling, or pivot to something more modern? One thing’s certain ... it’s gotta have some crunch. 😎
I’ve watched them adjust their game play and really seem to jazz with it.
I like the game quite a bit since the first time I played it high school. I love MDC and now it’s implemented for several reasons. One of which is jt makes a potential very combat heavy system deadly & frequently leads to players planning more. Most of the nine players have never played before.
⏳ 30 minutes to go, fueling up with dinner before diving into the Rifts finale. Tonight it’s all on the line: ⚔️ Mass combat. 👁️ Horror and betrayal. ♾️ A nexus point teetering on the edge. Can a ragtag crew of “heroes” on the run from the Splugorth hold the line… or will their clocks run out first? 🎲
Be open to the ridiculous of the world and say yes & more than no.
⚔️🎲 Shifting gears to GM Chris as my #Palladium #Rifts mini-campaign finale is T-3 hours away! This ride has been pure 90s chaos (in the BEST possible way), & everything’s led to this moment: 🔥 Wolves at the door. 🔥 9 PCs & + a few NPC allies. 🔥 A desperate stand vs a small Coalition battalion.
It’s time to fire up the wayback machine and land smack in the Swinging 60s, baby. Yeah, baby, yeah! We’re riding with Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. Did I fall for this shagadelic spoof? Did Eddy actually cosplay as Austin? Does it hold up or should it have stayed on ice? #Genreless

This morning’s #BooksandBrews (and likely for the foreseeable future) is a deep dive into different genres. First up for today, tomorrow, and probably a few weeks: Glen Cook’s The Black Company. Dark, gritty, relentless... exactly the kind of fuel I need.
Part of me is inclined to run it, as I've been deep into a Swords and Sorcery headspace, plus I've read nearly all of the books up until about the 2010s.
This morning’s #BooksandBrews comes with a side of big decisions. My Rifts campaign ends next week, and the table is hungry for what’s next. Stormbringer has been glaring at me from the shelf like it knows it’s time. Do I unleash the chaos and drag my players into the doomed world of Elric? ⚔️☕📚

I enjoyed it. The system is quick to pick up, my players had a blast and my then nine-year old co-GMed the game with me. She still talks about it today.
Focus on making it grounded, the "block" or neighborhood the players operate in, and have them be members of the society. Depending on which edition you play, it could easily become "super" undead, kicking it old school. Do you know what type of game you'd like to run? Horror? Politics? Humor? Etc?
