Posting my occasional reminder that you should replace "smart" device with "surveillance" device each and every time you consider purchasing or using one. This includes everything from wearables to refrigerators. Your behavior is a commodity and interested parties are many.
Good article, and I realize the important possibilities that exist, however, I don't see any discussion about these wearables as surveillance and data collection tools. Must those with disabilities sacrifice their personal privacy in order to experience tech benefits? META is not trustworthy.

A few years ago, when crime was statistically higher in Washington DC, I went there with my parents, my 2 kids, brother, his wife, & their 3 kids. Moved around the whole city, saw attractions, did shopping, went to museums. We mostly used the subway system. Not murdered, not robbed, not assaulted.

I have prompt access to doctors and NP. I am getting the referrals I need (mostly). I can get my Rx refills. Perhaps the greatest advantage is prompt access to my complete lab and imaging results. However, there are issues as well. 2/4
As a person with a dangerous and rare disease (and a handful of related complications), not having a GP at the centre of my care is stressful. The amount of work I have to do to manage my care is a second full-time job. The provision of Maple services by NS Health has been a decent stopgap. 1/4
