Absolutely! He really doesn't get the recognition he deserves. I love his short stories, too many people don't know about them.
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
His novels and his comics are all one big continuity. His latest, "Lexcorp," is the Luthor redemption story, a complete novel. "Luthor's Gift" is written earlier and it's shorter and it's online for free: www.supermanthroughtheages.com/theages/user...

#K-Metal update at #SupermanThroughTheAges - I am changing the name of our K-Metal restoration project form "K-Metal from Krypton" to "Saga of the K-Metal" Here's why: www.supermanthroughtheages.com/forum/index.... I just hope I can right the wrong.

The main cover for "Lara, Empress of Earth!", a Silver Age Imaginary Story w/ the premise that Lara came to Earth w/ baby Kal-El, and tries to remold Earth into a new Krypton. Issue #1 in a free online comic, by and for fans. Variant covers are very welcome! Written in '90s; art in progress.

I loved seasons 1 and 2; aside from 1 or 3 episodes, season 3 was unwatchable. I can't figure out what happened! Did the show team know they were going to be canceled when they were writing S3, so they gave up? Or was the show canceled because the TPTB saw the S3 episodes and knew shark was jumped?
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
Just read it again; it didn't hold up well. It was super-genius and mind blowing back when it came out; now it's kind of a slog. A lot of the boundaries that it pushed aren't there anymore, he did his job too well.

OK, I just looked through my PG collection and my Supergirl 2025 collection. Streaky is consistently referred to as "he", "his," "him". Maybe the people at dc.fandom.com don't read those titles? Still no mention of an origin, though.
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
Whoops, sorry - I misread the year. They agree with your blog, 2017.
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
I just checked dc.fandom.com - they consistently use the pronoun "she" in the articles, but have no origin for her. So either Streaky changed genders in one of the many reboots, or the site editors are misinformed. They say the current version first appeared in 2011.

I liked your "power of dance" thing, that was funny. And thank you for reading! I don't know how many people still are, this far down in the comments. SNW used the be really spot on regarding trans stuff (the Capt. Angel talk with Spock was sublime) but this time around the trans thing and the ...
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
But in the current Supergirl and recent Power Girl, Streaky just always has powers. I don't mind if there's no current origin, the stories are still fun. Just curious!!
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
That was really good, thanks! A small thing and I don't know if this has ever been explained. What is the new/current origin for Streaky? I've only read the original, with the X-Kryptonite origin, which left him (he was always 'he' at that point) gaining and losing his powers on a per-story basis.

Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
This was phobic by the show's own rules, which it had set up earlier in the episode; and this kind of thing is unfortunately a not uncommon trans experience. All I can say is, the universe better watch out when her egg cracks!
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
... conflicting traits and confusion were all resolved - she had crystalized. She had even decided to stay herself and had told Spock that was her decision. But Spock didn't want to lose his girlfriend, so he subjected her to conversion therapy.... (next comment)
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
Mulling over the La'an thing, I've changed my mind and agree with OP, this ep is transphobic. Here's why: Unlike the other 3 crew members, La'an became her true self after becoming Romulan. Everything about her clicked into place and made total sense, her previously... (continues in comment.)

Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
I agree that seeing this story as a trans allegory is not what it was trying to be about. But I entirely disagree with their genetics-makes-personality premise. Michael Burnham was exteremely Vulcan, that was because of her upbringing and education, not genetics. These 4 didn't have that...
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
In fact, for a while, I thought one of them would decide to stay changed and become a series villain. Would have actually fit canon.
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
Answering would get into spoilers, don't know if that's appropriate. But yes, it was along the lines of "if any of them had ever expressed a desire to be this (species) then of course they should stay (this way)." The original assumption was, in fact, to support their changes (a pro-trans culture).
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
I'd be curious to know your opinion. After the slew of dumpster fires this season, I thought this episode was a return to form and one of only a few episodes so far worth watching.
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
I had a different take-away than OP. I am a trans woman and did not consider this ep to be phobic at all; but I can see that interpretation. The writers also seemed aware of the possibility and put in a few lines of dialogue to explain how this is different. I also did not see a groomer. A fun ep.๐

In short, their interpretation = "white man erased"; this fear is what the whole movement feeds, inflames, and is built on.
Audrey Gale (@daughterofkrypton.com) reply parent
My guess: by removing the image of the barrel and of the white man, they are seen as contributing to the erosion (ie, the attack on) pre-civil rights white southern culture. So although this has nothing to do with racism, to them it's in the same bucket as statues and sports team names.
