I'd be so lost without my dimmies, so I feel ya'. Ever tried whipping some up? I can't cook for shit and I made a batch once, which were edible but not amazing. But I feel I could improve over time if I made the effort. I reckon the poms would love a dimmie!
Was at the F1 one year and turned a corner and literally bumped into Glen Ridge. I was so surprised and out of my mouth came an exclamation "Glen Ridge!" and then he thought he knew me and was like "g'day mate it's been a while" and it was so confusing.
Perhaps the South Melbourne thing hadn't become a thing yet, but I have been eating them since I was a kid, and I am 57 now! So they've been around for a bit! But yeah, more popular these days. They are my very favourite food of all time, I love a dimmie!

We have a deep freeze of extremely generous proportions. The limitation therefore is more around budget than anything else. No car fryer. But each restaurant can whip up a couple of hot ones to sustain me until the next collection point, so I’m all sorted. It’s about the journey after all.

Ahh. This is the pic from their website, and if I am not mistaken, these are Kwok Cheung's, which are a popular (and pretty decent) commercially available dimmie that many restaurants use as their "home made" offering. About $45 for a bag of 60 from the wholesaler.

Geez you're brave. I am too ticklish for that. I've been seeing a podiatrist recently and I have told her to go easy touching my feet in case I have an involuntary reaction and kick her. She sits to the side now just in case.
