For roughly four years, survivors of Japanese American incarceration during World War II and their descendants have fought against the Lava Ridge Wind Project. They argued the 231-turbine development would desecrate the land where roughly 13,000 people of Japanese descent were imprisoned. Their forced removal and incarceration is now widely viewed as a blatant violation of civil rights. The Lava Ridge Wind Project, which was being developed by LS Power, a subsidiary of Magic Valley Energy, was approved in December 2024. The approval was part of an effort under the Biden administration to expand renewable energy projects on federal lands. The closest turbine to the historic site would be about 9 miles away. Wind turbines as tall as the Space Needle would mar the horizon, said Abo, who was 2 years old when she and her family were forced to move from their home in Juneau, Alaska, to the camp in 1942. The planned wind farm “just didn’t fit with the solemnity of the location,” she said.

The President of the United States used his primary official communication channel, a private website he owns, to post about a public health issue. As an engaged citizen, I wanted to see it, but first I was presented this cheap pop-up ad for a scam. Real global superpower stuff going on here.

A lesson for AI makers: The great lie of IT has been that it reduces makework labour. In fact, it has typically been the reverse is true. Bring in email to make memos efficient, they said, now everyone answers 200 emails a morning before they do a bit of actual work.

People obsessed with this country's "heritage" are violently opposed to ever actually addressing its real heritage, so all they're left with are consumerism and symbols chosen for their plausible deniability. Imagine claiming the Cracker Barrel logo as your birthright.
