Oh no mate, this would be fucking weird if it’d come from any Tory leader before Johnson. From Labour it’s mindbending.

Growing up in NI, it was common to mock the practice of daubing corner stones or gable walls with British and Irish colours; that it REVEALED a cultural neurosis that normal people didn't have. Silly, desperate, something people in Dublin or London felt no need to do. TIl now, I guess.

Appartently it's happened in Dublin now too! (Hanging a weird amount of flags, not painting the edge of footpaths.) To the point where Dublin City Council will be discussing it at a meeting tonight.

The DCC case where the Irish flag is being weaponised to make asylum seekers or poc feel intimidated sadly shows this crap can spread sadly

This. Flags were a naff American thing until very recently. It was one of the things we used to mock them about.
