I think we are saying the same thing. I mean as long as you don't go crazy, some debt (mortgage, 1 car loan, etc) is good. By context I meant that. The meme is trying to imply all debt is bad. But debt helps people move up SES ladder if kept under control

But this doesn't say national debt. It says debt. So I am assuming it is adding up all individual debt into one big pile. It is trying to say we are all idiots for getting in so much more debt than before, but this is taken way out of context. In manageable amounts debt is good.

Debt allows us to invest in the future. Most large companies and start ups and major inventions would not exist w/o debt. You need loans to build the factory before you can begin making your widgets to start making money.

Profile picture Brian Patterson (@docbp95.bsky.social) reply parent

Debt is also good. It allows people to attain things that would normally be beyond their means. I bought a house for $350k on money I got from a bank. I am paying it off $2k a month. If I had to save that to pay in cash w/o debt, now 15 years later I still would not own a house.

This season he has a 3.48 ERA over 119 innings (probably about half of those 33 starts). He had been quite good. (1.96 over the last month) however, he only had 3 wins on the season. So, mostly this stat is showing how he is a good pitcher on a bad team. He was not quite as good last year.

I think the real message is let the people decide the candidate and don't have the DNC try to decide for them (like they tried to do with Cuomo) . Mamdani might be right for NY but would never win a purple district. That's fine. Let them find the candidate right for them.

Yea, I get that. But if you are a Christian then it was a Jewish temple to the same God that would shortly become the Christian God. The point was to replace Judaism with a new religion around Christ. So, depends on your point of view as to whether he had authority or not.

It depends on how much of the story you believe. According to the Bible it's the same God and He changed things by having a Son. Jesus was a Jew meant to change the relationship between God and the Jews and so that would be His temple. If you are Jewish I guess you believe differently.

This is why I made a point of saying "the way it is worded..." because I didn't know the actual details of the encounter, just the way it was written in the article. The article makes it sound like she didn't do things right. Thus, MAGA can defend FBI. Perception is more important than reality.

The problem is that how this is worded you can read it as she behaved wrongly. She "lied to federal agents" and so MAGA will see it as the FBI did the right thing. They didn't arrest her for doing judge stuff but for lying to them. Just gray area enough to give them cover with Trump voters.

Well, not really a surprise. There are, what 32 teams in those two conferences... So mathematically it makes sense... And they are the top teams. This is probably going to be the new normal.

I don't know, but maybe if you are morally awful that completely incompetent is better. Morally awful and good at it sounds like a really bad combination.

You could replace "college" in the sentence with a lot of things and be spot on.

2/2.you see a lot on news and tv of the kids at frat parties, spring break, etc... Having fun. But MOST of those students also work very hard during the week. Just because they party hard on break doesn't mean they only party. I teach college and most students are hard workers. Most...

I had a lot of fun in college, but wouldn't say it was a 4 year party. I also worked hard. But, I learned as much out of class in clubs, conferences, speakers, living on my own in a safe environment, etc. That it was a very valuable experience beyond just what I got in class. 1/2

Sort of. I had $96k in debt after grad school. I paid about $60k before my loan was forgiven with the PSLF program. But, I worked lower paying teaching job for 14 years to be eligible. I could have earned a lot more than that $30k difference in industry instead of a non-profit gig.

Eh, that's modern baseball. As long as he can make contact and knock it over the wall 25-30 times a year they will live with him chasing sliders 180 times a year

Why the state to state variability? Do women in ND and SD not change their name when they get married, but women in TX heavily do? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

Yea, exactly. That is why I said big if. But I was just disputing that Vance is worse. He is weak and can't hold the trump coalition together. There would be fighting and chaos.

It might be, but only if it is followed by more. If we let it sit it will be forgotten. It started the momentum, but someone will have to pick it up with something else or nothing will come if it.

If Trump were impeached and actually removed (big if) then it would massively disrupt everything. The GOP would dissolve into infighting and Elon is gone. They all don't like each other and stay together because of Trump's will. JD doesn't have that. Total chaos insues without trump.

BTW, I was agreeing with you that what he is doing is terrible. I was just conceding that is certain limited situations tariffs can do some temporary good.

I have seen instances where they work in limited, targeted fashion to combat unfair practices by other countries. For example when China flooded the market with cheep steel targeted tariffs worked to protect US steel. But not on the scale this Guy is doing them.

Revolutions are built on hope. It is not just a pithy line. It is reality. Action comes when hope shows it will be meaningful. just takes one person to start something. One leader talks for 24 hrs, sparks others and others and then who knows where it goes. Emotion is the spark that starts the fire.

I think we can safely say that at this point Booker is Dem leadership. Him, AOC, Bernie, Walz, Pritzker. The ones out getting stuff done and making noise.
